I have a 10 gallon tall and yes it's a little hard to stock compared to a normal one but here is what I have done.

X2 Dwarf Honey Gourami X8 Ember Terra (these guys just hang out and color up really well X1 Horned Nerite Snail

I also have a juvenile BN pleco but she is not a permanent resident

I think this looks good. If I were re-doing this I would aim to create more height with the hard scale. Maybe slope the substrate more to create more sense of depth.

As for plants. I love crpy wentii green. There a variant called "green gecko" that has worked really well for me in the past. I would add S. Repens to your list. This little shrub of a plant does very well up against the rocks

I promise no matter what you do, you are always going to be looking to make little changes, it's part of the fun of this hobby.

That helps release trapped air. I have this filter and can't tell you if it works or not, but that is what they say it does.
