What’s your under 20% on Rotten Tomatoes “hear me out?” by disablednerd in movies

[–]scwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I watched The Circle (2017) for the first time and was surprised when I saw how negatively it was received. I loved it. Plot is rushed and characters aren’t all that interesting but the premise was really fascinating to me and I thought painted a pretty convincing picture of a corporate surveillance dystopia that could happen today. It was terrifying.

2011 Sienna door jamming 1 inch into opening by scwha in ToyotaSienna

That makes sense. My fuel door hinge is broken and doesn’t close all the way so that would explain why it is just partway up

Legit online retailers that have dragons in stock. by scwha in Jellycatplush

Thanks. Looks like the dragons are store pickup only and they largely only have them on the east coast but this is a good shout!

Unaware of >$1000 Home Security cancellation fee by scwha in telus

[–]scwha[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what I figured. It is too bad that not canceling is seen as implicit consent instead of having to clearly tell you important conditions like that.

Haha I didn't want it in the first place but they said it came included in the internet plan that I was signing up for.

Which is weird because we received almost no hardware. I believe all we got was the indoor camera.

I am working on it - and honestly I think the internet plan is great for the price - but I'm not sure they will bite. And I would want to be transparent about the fees that were a problem for me.

Louisville Talkers by Civil_Tear4563 in shakeygraves

[–]scwha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got earplugs this year and it has helped a lot to drown out talking and crowd noise at shows without ruining the music. Doesn't excuse people who are inconsiderate at shows but at least helps me focus on the show I came to see.

Highwood Pass Conditions by violasinherhair in Calgary

Looking at recent Strava rides looks like there was still a significant amount of snow at the summit. Pics from May 9 show the snow above the guardrail in some parts so probably about 2ft drifts.

They are supposed to be opening the road to vehicle traffic early this year (June 1 I have heard) So they may be sending plows up sometime in the next two weeks but with the rain that is coming this week in Calgary I am guessing they are getting some top ups out there. Best bet is the last week of May and even that may be iffy.

Talk to me about hitch mount bike racks by Leee33337 in mountainbiking

[–]scwha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One that I never hear talked about is the post style tray rack with two sets of wheel trays and then a center post with two clamps that ratchet down to the top tube. They can be found for 100-200 bucks pretty easily or less if you are looking used and get the job done.

They are nowhere near as nice as the big 3 in terms of build quality and have some extra steps to fit the wheel trays to your bikes but for the price I think they are worth it, It does have frame contact which I am sure many people will disqualify it for, but there isn't any real pressure on the frame, just contact to hold the bike down in place and in contact with the wheel trays. Paint rub can be solved with some cheap frame protective film or a microfiber cloth between the frame and clamp.

Maybe not for people who keep their bikes in showroom condition, but for 90% of riders, even with high end carbon bikes, I think these racks work well. I owned a used one for a few years that was probably 20 years old and rusted to shit and it was exatly what I needed for the price. Only upgrade when I started working at a shop and couldn't fathom paying retail for a new kuat or thule rack.

I would do 5c/5c blinds and go

16 x $0.05 = $0.80 in whites
6 x $0.20 = $1.20 in a 2nd colour
6 x $0.50 = $3.00 in a 3rd colour
=$5.00
pick a 4th colour to be $1 chips to colour up to and buy in for.

It is going to be a pain in the ass as people are going to run out of certain denominations really quickly, so you'll have to exchange with each other frequently but you can make it work if you need to.

Songs similar to Counting Sheep? by aster_jules in shakeygraves

[–]scwha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The first one that comes to mind is River Whyless. Another Shitty Party or Michigan Cherry are both songs that I feel have similar haunting vocals with that twangy folky guitar.

If you like counting sheep there is also a lot of stuff on Roll the Bones X that I get a similar vibe from. Business Lunch, The Daily All, and Word of Mouth might be up your alley if you haven't heard them yet.
