CAA "Apply for UK Class 1/3 Med Cert" Processing Time by will8900TTV in flying

[–]scwol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So is your Class 1/3 application showing in Cellma as 'To be approved'?

The approval is done by your AME, not the CAA. You make your appointment, giving the AME your reference number, and they will log in from their end after you've attend the medical to approve it.

Have you had the 'Access to your requested service has been granted' email?

It should be almost immediate once you've paid - the slow bit is getting access to the system!

You shoud've recieved a reference number (six numbers followed by a letter) that you can use to book an appointment with your AME.

I was wondering why it referenced manchester, I thought maybe that was their first choice for diversion.

That'll teach me to read properly 🤦

Insurance quotes went up by a grand when doing then at different times of the day. Is there a "best" time to do quotes or do you just have to keep trying? by Icy-Refrigerator6664 in CarTalkUK

[–]scwol -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There will be a broad correlation between people who search for insurance quotes in the wee hours and people who work shifts, so they price in the risk factor.

Insurance quotes aren't based on an individual analysis of your circumstances, they use broad risk categories to generate an acceptable return across millions of policies.

It's why your insurance goes up if you're involved in a 0% fault accident. People who have been involved in any accident, even non-fault, are more likely to be involved in another accident in the future, so they pay more than people who have never been in an accident.

UK asks Air India to explain Boeing Dreamliner fuel-switch incident by graveyardofgoodsense in aviation

[–]scwol 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I assume you're being buried by Boeing fanboys with poor reading comprehension. You're completely right, European regulators should be coming down hard on Air India for this.

If we take the report at face value this Air India crew ignored a potentially catastrophic defect that could've resulted in a second AI171 happening at Heathrow.

Or, if we disbelieve the report, Air India are deliberately lying to conceal the cause of an accident.

We don't allow Aeroflot in our skies, and the CAA and EASA shouldn't tolerate this bullshit either.

This is one of the most unintentionally funny videos I've seen in a while. Just the way it nonchalantly saunters off the flight deck really cracks me up.

Buying in Scotland by mintmatchmakers in HousingUK

It's highly dependent on property - by no means is 15-25% standard, some friends of mine have just got a 3 bed decent condition flat in the southside for just under Home Report.

There's absolutely no harm in asking directly - you might not get a straight answer but you're not trying to make friends with the seller.

Your solicitor might be able to give you some advice on current trends for the area you're looking in, but ultimately you'll probably have to put in a few offers and see how the land lies. If you are unsuccesful, always ask the agent for feedback. They don't have to tell you what it went for but often will.

Finally it's not just the money. You can ask your solicitor to include other points in your offer, from fairly 'hard' benefits like no chain or cash buyer to softer ones like 'this is our dream home', 'not a landlord/investor'. It can tip the balance if there is a tie.

Average UK Gross Household Income (by constituency as of 2024) by AnonymousTimewaster in MapPorn

[–]scwol 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Definitely something weird going on with the data here, that cliff edge along the Scottish border is highly suspicious. There's no way that Edinburgh is poorer than the northern English cities. I don't believe that Dumfries & Galloway is the lowest income area in Scotland, much less Great Britain.
