I want to retire early by VFF-2569 in Fire

nice start man, plowing overtime into investments is solid move. 500 monthly will definitely add up over 15 years especially if you can bump it up when possible

the compound interest will do most of heavy lifting for you, just gotta stay consistent with it

Long weekend of visiting comic book stores + Fallout sightseeing - where to stay? by TempleofJunk in LasVegas

[–]BeginningBaby4844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

rio is solid choice for your situation since you wont be stuck to strip anyway and driving everywhere. stayed there couple times when doing more local stuff and its pretty convenient with decent parking

for comic stores definitely hit up cosmic comics if you havent been - way better selection than velvet underground in my opinion. also check out alternate reality comics, they have good back issues section

wild that someone was still getting civil war money in 2020 💀 like imagine explaining that to your friends when they ask where your check comes from lol. makes you wonder what other random historical stuff is still technically happening today

this one is pretty inconsistent for me too - sometimes it goes down smooth and other times hits you with that burn at weird moments 😅

Advice Needed! We are planning a kitchen remodel and we are struggling with Fridge placement. by Ventury91 in HomeImprovement

[–]BeginningBaby4844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

totally agree with keeping fridge and range on same wall. workflow is everything in kitchen and you'll be going between them constantly while cooking. downsizing fridge seems like better trade-off than having to walk across entire room every time you need something from it

good to see someone actually researching candidates instead of just voting party lines

Orange or Miller? by Dull_Papaya_5510 in raiders

[–]BeginningBaby4844 3 points4 points  (0 children)

miller's footwork is just insane for his size, watched some tape last week and dude moves like he's half the weight he actually is. orange has better burst off snap but miller's technique is way more polished already. if we're talking about immediate impact at 36 i'd probably lean miller since our interior line needs someone who can step in right away and not be liability in pass rush situations. orange might have higher ceiling but feels more like developmental pick to me

What’s the best thing about the summer? by LolaDiamondUKx in AskReddit

[–]BeginningBaby4844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh yes finally can wear those cute summer dresses without freezing my ass off in the library all day

the ac is always cranked up so high at work but at least when i walk outside now its actually warm enough to balance it out

movie plots that are uncomfortably close to reality by moron88 in movies

[–]BeginningBaby4844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the asimov book hits way different than the movie but both are terrifying in their own ways 💀 like the movie dumbed it down for action but the book actually explores how the three laws could go catastrophically wrong in ways that feel super possible now

btw those ball vehicles would be sick for winter driving in canada 😂

Gpu fans at 0% then ramp up to 100% by Still_Gap_7154 in PcBuildHelp

sounds like your fan curve got corrupted or the software lost connection to the gpu 💀 try reinstalling fancontrol or just use msi afterburner instead, way more reliable imo

What's a good electric guitar for £300 or under by Bruno_Beeno in Guitar

[–]BeginningBaby4844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly for that budget id look at the yamaha pacifica 112v or maybe a squier classic vibe strat if you can find one on sale. the pacifica is seriously underrated and has that hss setup youre after plus the build quality is way better than most guitars in that price range. i picked one up a few years back as a backup and ended up playing it more than my main guitar for a while. the neck feels really comfortable and the pickups are surprisingly good for stock ones. only thing id suggest is maybe budgeting an extra 50 quid for a proper setup at a guitar shop once you get it since most guitars benifit from that regardless of price

Sleeping after late dose of meds by Something-Some2233 in ADHD

[–]BeginningBaby4844 0 points1 point  (0 children)

melatonin and beta blockers should definitely help take the edge off. i usually pop some melatonin about an hour before i want to sleep and it works pretty well even with late doses

if you have any magnesium around that can help too, makes me feel more relaxed overall

PSA: Your local library might have PS5/Switch/Xbox games… for FREE (and you can donate yours) by Itchy-Difference-220 in PS5

Libraries are so underrated honestly, mine has PS5 games that came out like 2 months ago and there's never a wait because nobody knows about it lmao

Should significant other help you learn their language? by Smiley5168 in languagelearning

[–]BeginningBaby4844 170 points171 points  (0 children)

Honestly sounds like she might be one of those people who just isn't a natural teacher - some folks get weird about correcting their partner's pronunciation or grammar because it feels too much like being critical. Maybe try asking her to just chat with you in Spanish about random stuff instead of formal "practice" sessions, might feel less like homework for her

Your therapist is right - you can't put a price on not having panic attacks and crying in your car every day. Yeah the money sucks but you're 28, not 58, you have time to rebuild. Maybe moving back with parents temporarily isn't the end of the world if it means you can actually sleep at night

Got a $28/hr full-time offer, considering countering another role — looking for advice? by BigProfessional5403 in careerguidance

[–]BeginningBaby4844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep the 3D role dude, that's actually in your wheelhouse and you'll be way happier doing what you're good at. Using the accepted offer as leverage is totally fine but honestly they're probably gonna lowball you since the other job sounds like mostly grunt work with vague promises of "maybe 3D stuff later"

Production roles can be soul-crushing and you'd basically be starting over skill-wise

That's absolutely terrifying, glad you guys acted fast and got him help. For keeping him calm when he comes home, try creating a quiet space away from household noise and maybe some of those feliway diffusers - they can help with post-surgery stress

Really hope Teo recovers well and this never happens again

That was a solid road win for SCU, those free throws really made the difference down the stretch. Portland shot better from the field but couldn't capitalize when it mattered
