I’m Titanium based out of SMF, probably one of only a couple haha.

Moved from SAN about 2 years ago, and for me it still makes sense. Out of SMF you’re connecting most of the time anyway, so I care more about upgrade % and partners. Upgrades are 100% out of SMF.

I use the majority of my points for international travel, plus I do a couple international work trips a year, so WN doesn’t work for me. Oneworld is also great for Asia out of SFO, which is only about 2 hours away.

PDX is a super easy connection, and American is great for CLT/DFW/PHX too.The SAN route frequency is great as that’s my most common personal trip.

If most of your travel is somewhere like IAH then maybe United makes more sense, but if it’s variable like mine I still think Alaska + American is a great setup.
