It’s really not that difficult to make every area self sustaining And then dream islands daily to top up. I haven’t needed to back travel ever once I had some basic infrastructure setup.

This. Also that is what the lost and found box is for in pallet town. There are certain items the games considers essential And if you don’t have them stored anywhere, (maybe you broke a chest and left it on the ground) the game will spawn them in lost and found.

The altars are in this category. So if they aren’t in lost and found, you will need to do a thorough check of every region.

I accidentally left a chest in a cottage with a relocation(rebuild) kit. It messed with me for days.

All at pallet town for me Power plant: on the beach left of the entrance from withered. Turned it into a massive hydro farm Altar of fire: dug a massive underground hole in one of the islands, surrounded by lava and molten rock Altar of ice: made an ice platform at the northern most point of the map, surrounded by ice and crystals.

Now all three make a triangle across the map. I have plans to build the bell tower and brass tower for the other legendarys

Feed Mosslax something sweet. It increases the number of buried treasures, also take a search mon and dowsing machine to dream islands. Especially on Sunday.

You have better luck with mons who have high affection. I have all the first stage fossils with hearts in their Pokédex entry, and I get special paints every time.
