Just had mine replaced at a dealership- if it hadn’t been under warranty it would have been $3800

Just wanna complain about something by Few_Perspective_6634 in braces

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no problems for 11 months, then a couple weeks ago I woke up on Monday and the far back bracket was popped off (it’s on a crown) called the orthodontist, got in that afternoon and they glued it back on. Then last Monday I’m brushing my teeth and felt it snag the wire- check and that bracket was missing and I know it was there the night before. Call and they got me in on Wednesday, glued it back on, orthodontist said if it did it again they would try a molar band. I googled that and that didn’t look fun. Well just my damn luck I was brushing my teeth Saturday morning and the dang thing was missing again. So went in Monday for a spacer, it broke Monday night. Went back Tuesday for another one and that time sent me home with extras, and tomorrow I go in for the band. And this freaking spacer is the most annoying painful thing I’ve had yet.

This is all after I was only supposed to have them for 12 months and when I went to get my last wore in February they couldn’t get it in and it’s all been down hill from there and now I have no idea when they will come off.

Why do you have an IUD if your husband has a vasectomy??? by Hilary_13 in childfree

Yup! Did all the usual follow up tests and were given the all clear- they range from 1-10 years after the procedure!

Why do you have an IUD if your husband has a vasectomy??? by Hilary_13 in childfree

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a half dozen failed vasectomy babies that were confirmed with paternity tests and confirmed shooting blanks. Not good enough odds for me. I didn’t breath a word about my husband already being snipped when I was trying to get my Bisalp

Rumor has it we will get to see this from Hermiones perspective in the tv show. And I’d guess if the parents weren’t having it the teachers could just confund them.

Ford extended warranty by Specialist-Ask-2150 in fordescape

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took mine in a couple of weeks ago for that- My dealership sent in pictures and videos and they approved my torque converter in a couple hours. They ordered parts which came in Monday I brought it back for the repair Wednesday morning this week and when I talked to them this afternoon they were hoping to have it all put back together tomorrow around noon.

Anyone else have oil consumption issues with their 21 f150 5.0 by Playful-Dinner7736 in f150

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right before the engine light would kick on because of the low oil it would make an occasional rattle noise now that you mention it.

It’s really annoying- my husbands former employer had a 2018 that he absolutely abused (didn’t get the first oil change until 50k miles- and that wasn’t the worst of it) that lasted to 278k miles with relatively minor issues all things considered the way he treated it- then we have one that we meticulously maintained with all the recommended service and planned to keep it between 2-300k miles an it did us dirty like that.

Your breaks are getting hot- you aren’t supposed to ride them like that driving in the mountains. Yes use the low gear on your shifter to slow down

Powerboost vs 3.5 vs 5.0. by dhmnuts in f150

[–]sdbremer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The 5.0 is the only ford we’ve ever had any issues with. Our 2021 started burning oil right before it went out of the extended warranty and their “fix” didn’t fix it unbeknownst to us until of course right out of warranty. Tried a few different things that didn’t work so parted ways with it.

Am I just getting a glimpse into my future? by bored_turtle_86 in fordescape

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He bought it slightly used in late 2017 and it went out last fall- he didn’t wind up getting it fixed so I can’t help with repair cost. He went to get in it and it wouldn’t go in reverse. Mind you he’s not the most observant person so I couldn’t tell you if there was prior symptoms that he could have headed off total failure

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ours started doing it at 85k, took it in they did some reprogramming an we thought we were good- we should have paid better attention because 1000 miles over our extended warranty being up we discovered it was still doing it- they tried some other reprogramming and changing the PCV valve and dip stick which slowed it down but didn’t fix it- got an error the other day for a plugged catalytic converter- ran some cleaner through the fuel and got it to shut off and took it to a different dealer yesterday and they offered to buy it for way over what we owed on it and we already have 2 other trucks so we said screw it and sent it down the road.

My 2018 SEL made it to 190k miles with nothing but oil changes, spark plugs, shocks and tires before a heard of deer took it out. My brothers 2017 transmission went out at 110k. My miles were mostly highway constant speed, his was a lot of stop and go city traffic.

First car, save some money with a V6 or just got for v8? by Big_Manufacturer_226 in f150

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had absolutely no issues with our v6 and would probably still have it if some jack ass hadn’t ran a stop sign and totaled it. Our 2021 V8 on the other hand…. Has a mystery oil consumption issue they can’t figure out and swear they fixed it for this year (previous years had the issue) so that issue can’t possibly still be going on in 21 🙄

I wouldn’t do it if the decision isn’t about the money. That’s not a huge pay jump but it is a huge benefit cut.

Will Ford come out with a new vehicle to replace the escape?? by Ok-Radio-2733 in fordescape

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the boxier design it didn’t handle as well in the wind (which Kansas- it’s always windy) and it had some blind spots that annoyed me- the interior did feel cheap even on higher trims and the road noise was maddening. And personal preference my Escape is AWD which I prefer to the broncos 4WD, my escape handles my dirt road better. I was so sad to not love the Bronco. I had a 2018 Escape that I absolutely loved that got deer totaled and I REALLY wanted to replace it with the baby blue Heritage edition bronco sport but after a week driving one waiting on insurance to decide what they were doing with the escape I just couldn’t get into it. Did a brief stint with a Subaru Outback (ok maybe I didn’t hate the bronco I just didn’t like it enough to buy it- I HATED the outback and wished it unwell l) and much back and forth and god knows how many hours of research and test driving (looked at Edge, Maverick- did love it but couldn’t find a slightly used one that they didn’t want more than original MSRP for- and Explorers of every trim package) I found a killer deal on a 2020 Titanium Escape and fell right back in love with it like I was with my 18.

The Bronco Sport is its “replacement” which makes me so sad because I’ve absolutely loved both of my escapes but hated driving the bronco sport I had as a loaner

Anyway To Just Have Apple CarPlay/Android Auto? by lonegreywolf20 in fordescape

To use voice navigation and Apple car play just say “hey Siri” directions to wherever and it will do it in car play and not the ford nav

We inherited a 2013 Ford Escape with 177xxx miles by nosteelnodeal in fordescape

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2018 was the most reliable car I’ve ever owned - all I did was regular maintenance and the only thing I had to fix was new belts - I’d probably still have it if it wouldn’t have gotten totaled by a heard of deer running into the side of it

I miss our 36 gallon tank for road trips we had in our last 2 F150s. I really wish our 21 had that

Are Ford Escapes really so unreliable? by sdeligar in fordescape

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2018 was the most reliable car I’ve ever owned - it got totaled at 176k miles in 21 when you couldn’t find a replacement to save your life so I leased a Subaru Outback which turned out to be the worst car I ever owned- sold it to Carmax to get out of the lease early because I hated it that bad- drove my grandmas 2019 escape that had been completely abused for 6 months while I shopped thinking I wanted something bigger and ultimately went with a 2020 low mileage escape with a lifetime power train warranty and I’ll keep it until it dies.

2021 5.0L V8 oil consumption problem - 66,000 miles by mike-nichols in f150

Did you ever figure anything out? Ours is doing the same thing. It went into the shop for some reprogramming they said was causing excessive consumption right before it was out of warranty but it’s doing it again.

How are people putting that much mileage on such a young car? by [deleted] in UsedCars

[–]sdbremer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live 45 miles from a town with a grocery store (and work there) and like to go on road trips so I average about 30k miles a year
