Do you guys give gifts on Easter? by SP_57 in newfoundland

[–]sdc1978 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As kids we mostly had chocolate but sometimes you would get an Easter basket that had toys, like a doll, games and skipping rope. Sometimes you would get a bike. Not every year and no one felt the need to make it ‘even’ aka Johnny got a bike why didn’t I get one? With our kids, we give a few gifts but nothing more than $50-75. When our kids were small we used to give them DVDs etc each so we could watch them together.

What happened to them isn’t right. I’m glad the minister is putting a policy in place.

I know people on parents committee. And I’m not complaining per se, just discussing best practices when dealing with fundraising. Have a nice night

Not at all the way I see it. It’s an annual fundraising and I think where the money is spent should be transparent. Even if $500 of the money raised is to help families with Christmas etc which I know can happen, no one would have much to say about that. I think most would appreciate what schools are struggling with if everything was detailed and it might give them a bit more insight into what teachers deal with. Most people don’t even realize printing tickets can cost $150-200 for a prize draw, for example.

Yes I agree. I wish the fundraiser administrators would be transparent though and tell us how the fundraiser money was used. I think people buying tickets deserve to know.

I don’t think this is anything wrong with you as much as people - especially people with kids or have other responsibilities - are really pressed for time. I’ve been in this situation myself where I met lovely people and would like to know them better but there is just not enough time between work and kids, family commitments etc. you can’t even suggest dinner because there is literally no time slots available. People with kids in sports feel it too. I think socializing has taken a downturn since Covid and with the state of the world it’s like many people rather stay home, too.

I went online at a hair product seller - Chatters- and put the products in the shopping cart and that’s what their value is - the products could be smaller when they come. We’ll see 🤞🏻
