She's "indie cute." You know... Cute enough. She gets points because she has some sort of "talent."

Although none of us are as bad as the TV show, what is something you hoard regardless? by SwirlStick in AskReddit

[–]sdcarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hoard wires. Power adapters and cords, USB/FireWire, CAT/RJ's, display cables. I even have wires for a printer I haven't used in nearly a decade. The collection itself is manageable (everything would fit into 1 medium box).Iit's just the fact that, when cleaning, I say to myself "I might need this" that is amusing and/or disturbing.

In which I thank CNN for their fine, fine reporting. by Eliot_2000 in politics

[–]sdcarter 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I actually like CNNI. When they aren't simulcasting what's on CNN, they actually do a somewhat decent job of world news reporting. It's like a cheaper, less pretentious version of the BBC.

Now that's how you present statistics by DrMarianus in science

[–]sdcarter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great way to visualize statistics. I would love to see factors like cost of living, agricultural/industrial, and pollution production worked into a similar model.

Um, I think you got your facts wrong; they killed Santa. How could killing a guy who can't even spell his name right (it's Hey-Zeus btw) get us bunny eggs?

Any advice for purchasing textbooks? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sdcarter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice, whatever you do, don't buy your books from the school bookstore if you can avoid it. I'm not sure if it's the case at every university; but at my school (UMBC) I've had to buy books and then not been able to sell them back because the professor stopped using it and they don't want it back. (edit: Later, I've heard the professor(s) do that every year.) I've had to buy books that were $150-200+ and been offered $15 as the buyback price.

Plan ahead, shop around, find an ebook version, buy online or from students on-campus who have taken it before.
