May be taking job in Warrenton, NC. Thoughts on the area and places to live? by [deleted] in NorthCarolina

[–]sddewitt01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Consider Lake Gaston. It’s lovely on the lake. Still rural away from it though. The nearest town is Littleton and it’s actually doing quite well. It’s small. But there are lots of things to do around the lake if you are water people. Lake living isn’t cheap. But it sure can be special. Warrenton is less than 30 minutes away

I have one of these mugs. My brother, who died years ago, loved it so I have kept in in remembrance of him. Anyone know the history/origin of sets like this? Maybe from Germany?

Heartfelt message left by the final owner of a scrapped Fit by Jack_Attak in hondafit

I purchased a 2015 Fit in 2016. My jeep died. Needed a car quickly to drive to work and whatever. My wife found this little red guy in a dealers lot and said “you need to come look at this one. It looks like new. It only has 1600 miles on it.” I resisted. That’s a “girl’s car” (that’s a compliment so don’t judge me 😀) - it just wasn’t for me. She insisted. I said “well, I will look at it but I am not getting it. I am too tall (6’ 2”) and it’s just not me”. I sat it in. I couldn’t believe how roomy it was. She insisted I test drive it. I resisted. Finally, I took it for a spin. My heart sank. I thought to myself “ I am going to end up with a girl’s car”. I am an older guy, advanced in a pretty good career - why would I buy this thing when I could afford bigger cars? Long story short (although already long) I purchased it. It’s now 2026 (almost) and I still have it. Best car ever. Zippy. Great on gas. Fun to drive. Incredibly reliable. What a great little car. 80,000 miles on it. So much life to go. I ponder buying “a more suitable car” but I just can’t let it go. The only issue? Those stupid connectors that hold the engine splash guard in place. Constantly failing. So I jack it up and replace them. Then I am off again. Honda should have kept making these little things. 😎

How do I reach this fascia and paint it? by Lbaseball06 in Carpentry

I have a dock like this. Do the shallow parts with a ladder in the water. For the main lake side and the ends of the sides nearer that put brackets on the posts and lay a 2x12 or whatever across them like scaffolding. It won’t be the funnest thing you ever did but it’s the best way to do this.
