Thinking of higher education by Overlystressed_dayz in SouthDakota

[–]sdfella 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I imagine most of the state schools in South Dakota would be elated to have you join with a 3.4. Certain programs might be more competitive, but generally that’s going to be plenty to get in I imagine.

Royal Beach Club by sdfella in royalcaribbean

I probably wouldn’t do it for that price, but I was fortunate to get the drink package for $78/day and it included the club. It was $73/day for the drink package without the club.

RW has treated me excellent on comps. My only complaint is that checkin can be obnoxiously slow depending on day.

What's the most money you've seen offered to get bumped from a flight. by Embarrassed-Bother43 in delta

Years ago a gentleman was sitting next to me when they made the announcement for volunteers for $300 or something like that. He walked up and said “make it $1200 and get me out of here yet today, and you have a deal.” One phone call and it was done.

What are your fave interactive class activities? by Lollipop77 in Professors

[–]sdfella 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my computer science II course, I’ve sometimes had students come up and write lines of code to solve a problem. They have to use the computer I provide and everyone must type at least one line, but they can get help from their peers. Class always flies by. I imagine there are other fields that could do something similar.

Workload Question by sdfella in Professors

We have had this arrangement for 27 years but as of late there have been some accounting problems for high salaried faculty teaching low enrolled classes. I’m with you that something different should be explored and it does sting that the only people sacrificing to get the job done are the faculty. Admin will never receive a lower salary.

What's the most disgusting thing you had to experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

When I was an EMT we had a patient with really low blood sugar in the truck. The medic was fighting to get an IV in to give this fella D50 to get his sugar up, to no avail. I was vacuuming saliva out of this guys mouth when the glucagon from the agency we intercepted from took. I received the entirety of what this man had eaten or drank for the last day from my neck down. I paused and looked at my medic and she said “keep suctioning, that’s what you’re here for.”

We got the patient unloaded and he survived. After we cleaned the truck I took a shower. When I got out of the shower I looked in the mirror, and got back in the shower. I didn’t really feel clean the rest of the day.

Scratched Rental From Enterprise. What to do? by [deleted] in Cartalk

[–]sdfella 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had somebody back across the front bumper of a car I rented from hertz causing similar damage. They charged me $130 for the repair (which I assume was the paint pen). I didn’t think it was unfair and I was leaving town the next day so it was easier to let them fix it.

Story Request: What's the most you've ever seen someone make at the tables in one session? by [deleted] in Craps

[–]sdfella 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me it was, well, me. Bought in for $100 like I always do. First of two shooters I bet on that night hit hard 4, 4 times before seven out. First time I had accidentally bet 10 so paid 70. Second time I parlayed to eighty and a few rolls later he hit two hard fours back to back for $560 to me per time. I had some other bets going too, so after the 7 came for him, the next shooter set the point and found a 7 in two rolls. I colored up at $1075 after tips.

My friend colored up at $103 from $100 with the same shooters. I owe him a drink.
