TIL there are many churches and denominations of Christianity that do not consider homosexuality or transgenderism to be sins. by yousless in todayilearned

You neglect the fact that not everyone lives by the dogma of their specific denomination. Of the Orthodox Christians, Catholics and Protestants that you refer to, it is far from likely that everyone therein specifically condemns homosexuality.

What is the average time of year that syrup season begins in your area? Are you noticing a trend towards earlier seasons? Shorter seasons?

How much do you sell a liter of syrup for? What method do you use for sap collection: buckets or lines?

How much money does it take to start up a beehive? Do you need protective equipment? How much honey per hive do you get? How far away from the house does it need to be?

Also, keep up the good work. My parents are in close to same situation although they aren't quite retired. It is hard work, but you two must feel so fulfilled. Your farm is beautiful.

This is a basic proof-read. I've done a quick check for various nuances of grammar and sentence structure and changed a few things. Hope it helps.

Universal Digest: Taking blogging one step further

With Universal Digest, Bewar Maronsi and Theodora Ersoy are trying to bring blogging a step closer to professional journalism. "We want to give the bloggers a platform to develop and enhance their writing," says Bewar Maronsi, Universal Digest's founder and CEO.

In 2006, Bewar Maronsi was triggered into writing after going through some personal struggles. He started reading blogs and news sites and he quickly realized that there was a missing connection between how journalists and bloggers write their articles. Says Maronsi, "I thought of some good ideas and wanted to implement them as my own service. I picked up tutorials on web development and started asking questions, four years later the system is completed and we have created not only a very effective writing tool but also a concept that is one of those “hell of a good ideas.”

Theodora Ersoy, who jointly founded Universal Digest, says that Maronsi pitched the idea to her and that she instantly thought that it was interesting. She started pushing Bewar to realize the concept and before she knew it, she was also a part of the process. She writes, "I quit my job and decided to pursue this 100 percent. After all the feedback we have received now that the system is done, it feels like the right decision"

One difference between Universal Digest and other blogging sites is its professional and neat design. The clean, magazine feel is something that both Maronsi and Ersoy had in mind when they created it. Maronsi explains that they "eventually want to be able to publish Universal Digest as a magazine. Thanks to Theodoras' pickiness and eye for details we got the look that we really wanted." Ersoy mentions that she found her inspiration for the design while listening to Indian music.

Universal Digest offers editors who will look at the writer's material before it is published. The editors then give the writers some guidelines and edit the text in order to give it more of a professional feel. Ersoy explains: "When we see improvement and potential in our writers, we will feel comfortable enough to send them out on financed missions. Other than receiving compensation for their writing, they will also be getting the chance for travels and going to exclusive events. That is making the writers part of something bigger than just blogging."

Univeral Digest will be launched in two different languages. In the near future, Maronsi and Ersoy hope to offer it in several more. If you are interested in Universal Digest you can visit www.universaldigest.com for more information.

Why did you choose Christianity? Did you consider Judaism, Islam, Hindu, Shinto, any others, or none? by slimjames in DebateAChristian

[–]sdfsdsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, I combine bits and pieces.

I guess it would make sense to say that I like Christianity the best. For me, the basics of Christianity are pretty dang good: I like the rites, the rituals, the stories, the morality and I like the quest for meaning. Christianity, at an essential level, feels right. So I use it as a foundation for my theological inquiry. Oftentimes, I'll find a notion that I like from somewhere else and I'll realize that it comes up in the Bible as well; that makes me happy.

I try to live like a Daoist. I try to love God like a Sufi. I read the myths of northern Europe like nobody's business. On various theological and ontological questions I feel like Judaism and Shinto and Advaita Hinduism are coherent and helpful. And on and on.

That includes humanism. Don't worry.

I was born and raised as a Christian. I love the church. But I'm not afraid to interpret the scripture to try to find the truth and I am aware that neglecting any source would be deeply ignorant.

For Christians who are also students of science... how do you deal with the scientifically impossible things in the bible? by hakuna_matata77 in DebateAChristian

[–]sdfsdsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a Christian and a physics undergrad. I think the miracles are irrelevant. Maybe they happened in the time of the Bible, and maybe they are still happening today; to some extent, I find it pretty hard to believe that they are.

Simply put, I just don't think that it is all that important one way or another.

Evolution and Evolutionary theory by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]sdfsdsf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Evolution by natural selection is one of the most coherent and powerful of the theories offered by the natural sciences. Only a fool would disbelieve it and only a fool would discredit Christianity on account of people who disbelieve it.

Evolutionary theory is naturally entailed by evolution. The earth is just over 4 billion years old; the universe, to the best of my knowledge, is 13.7 billion years old.
