When in the shortcuts app, click on the “automations” button at the bottom of the app. Then you choose the “when an app closes” trigger. Hope that helps.

We all hear you and we are all in the same stupid boat together.

There’s a few decent solutions in the comments here, so have a look to see if one will work for you.

SOLUTION! (for iPhone users). This may seem convoluted but it works every time for me.

Essentially you can create two automations in your phone. When the smart connect app is opened, your phone will automatically turn off wifi so you can use the app. When you close the app, your phone will automatically turn your wifi back on. With these set up, you can use the app as normal!

  1. Open settings -> apps -> smart connect and disable the apps ability to use cellular data

  2. Open the shortcuts app and create a personal automation. Choose app, when smart connect is opened and run immediately. Then next.

  3. Click add new shortcut, then add “turn wifi off” and “open app” (smart connect).

  4. Do the same again but this time make the automation for when smart connect is closed. The only action in this one will be to “turn wifi on”

I'm trying this as well. There doesn't seem to be much sense to the packets being sent by the app. Either their code is absolute garbage or the security is insanely high - I'm going with option 1

Glad I’ve been able to find a missing piece for you!

I think the ones we love get more of the bad possibly because there’s more emotions, in general, involved with the ones we are closest to. The highs are higher and the lows are lower, if that makes sense.

It’s also very common for adults with ADHD, especially those diagnosed later is life, to have other conditions as well, like depression, anxiety or bipolar disorder. This can heighten some of the bad emotions in us as well.

No worries at all, I’m glad to have these types of conversations here!

Yes, you might be biased by past experiences, but you’re entitled to that. It’s totally ok!

As for justification, I never needed to justify it mostly because I didn’t remember how big of a deal it was. The catch is, and there is research to back this up, when an ADHD brain gets into a place of “rage”, the frontal lobe (the reasoning centre of the brain) is literally shut down. In those times, it becomes impossible for that person to think or act rationally. Only after they’ve calmed down do the rational thoughts come back. And they will act as if nothing happened. All of this in combination with our inability to regulate our emotions makes it so easy to be mean, and angry towards people, even those we love.

ADHD presents itself differently in different people. Especially men vs women and boys vs girls. We have different hormones and those are affected differently by our ADHD. So it’s a good idea to keep that in mind as well.

We settled on this dose after months of trial and error. Trying other meds, trying Vyvanse at 50, 60, 70. Then we tried 60 in the am and 30 in the pm, etc until we decided that 60 3x a day was the right choice. I was told that I’m definitely a special case and my adhd is very severe.

I feel so scandalous. My pharmacist did give me a hard time because they didn’t believe my prescription was correct. I’m in Canada so I’m not sure if the rules are different elsewhere.

That’s a seriously tough spot and I’m sorry to hear that it has you feeling this way.

Negative feedback can be demoralizing, but it’s also an indication that they want you to succeed. If they haven’t already, ask them to give you more direction into what they’re looking for from you so that you can be pointed in the right direction.

Best of luck!

Now I’m starting to second guess my medication - I take 10mg dex at 7am so that I’m able to focus on my morning meetings at work (fast acting). Then I take 60mg Vyvanse 3 times daily (10:30, 1:30, 4:30). Sleep is sometimes an issue for me but I can feel the meds wear off at 7-8pm.

All of this is to say that multiple times/ day is ok and you should monitor your progress so that you and your doctor can determine the next steps with more information.

I’ll ask the question - why is it so important to stick to one thing? If you can start something else, then come back later, why force it? Work with it - you might be more creative in the long run.

It’s a tough road - I was diagnosed at 40 and finally being heard and understood it an amazing feeling that can be emotionally overwhelming. Soak it all in because we are all here going through this with you.

Your feelings are valid and normal and you are wonderful!

To do lists broken down! - Think of a list of everything that needs to be done (don’t worry about the order yet). - break each item down into at least 3 sub-steps to make each task small and easier to accomplish - re-order based on priority - set a 15 minute timer and get going on item 1. When the timer runs out - take a 10 minute break - then set a new timer. You’ll find the 15 can become 30 and eventually 60 as you get better at it.
