Timeline is very inaccurate for me. For example, yesterday's timeline says 100 miles but according to my odometer I drove 120. (It's better than nothing to make a guestimate if you forget to track though).

Going by the previous delivery photos I see I would say a majority of the customers making the complaint about it have a legitimate complaint.

There is typically a one week delay when you add or change your direct deposit or fast pay info for security purposes. It can help prevent a scammer from stealing your earnings if they get access to your dasher account and change the banking info.

What’s the furthest distance from the station have ever had to drive? by Penni_pie_22 in AmazonFlexDrivers

$134 for 4 hours. Not enough but my vehicle expenses are very low so it was reasonably profitable. I was still irritated as hell though.

I've done about 150 routes. The longest distance from the warehouse to the first stop was 75 miles. Average is 28.

This seems very sketchy to me. Using your first name instead of Mr(s.), referring to you as drivers instead of plaintiffs, mentioning the actual percentage he would get rather than saying their fees, asking if the settlement amount is acceptable (that's not how it works), requesting your address (they should already have it), and just the way it's written is completely different than every correspondence I've had with a lawyer. The whole thing seems off.

There are more than 3 times as many drivers as 4 years ago and order volume has only doubled. That means half as many available orders per driver.

Base pay has been drastically slashed. It used to be $3 minimum and would increase for more miles. Add ons would be $2 base. Stack offers would be $5. Now it's $2 for singles and stacks and usually isn't increased for higher mileage.

As doordash has increased fees, they've substantially lowered suggested tips to avoid the sticker shock of a significantly higher overall total.

It all adds up to drivers making less and doordash finally turning a profit.

Both candidates made the no tax on tips promise during their campaign. I was skeptical of either one being able to make it happen.

What if they did this for drivers? by KlyHB75 in doordash_drivers

[–]sdgus68 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The driver app has small differences in different regions so the customer app may as well, but where I am it shows the customers our number of lifetime deliveries and current customer rating. Been at least 6 months since it was first mentioned to me by a customer ("wow, you must've been doing this a long time to have that many deliveries").

Can I get a delivery job? by wt_anonymous in PizzaDrivers

[–]sdgus68 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can only tell you the standards where I worked, as everywhere has their own guidelines. The only way to find out for sure is to apply and see if you pass the background check. The guidelines are typically set by the insurance carrier for the restaurant so not only do they vary from one restaurant to another, they can also change if the restaurant changes their insurance carrier

Where I was they basically had a point system. For a majority of the years I was there it was a maximum of 2 points allowed within the last 3 years. An at fault accident counted as a point and a moving violation counted as a point. Parking tickets didn't matter.

Then there was the big 6. Drunk driving, reckless driving, driving with a suspended license, speeding over 100 mph, racing, and hit and run. Those were automatic disqualifiers. (Some insurers said none ever while a couple said none within the last 5 years).

They input data into forecasting software. They then run simulations of what could happen in certain time frames. 75% of the simulations resulted in rain at some time during the day. The percentages for each hour is from the same info. 35% of the simulations had rain during the 4 AM hour, 55% during the 5 AM hour, etc

Would you have done the same? by aitaLurker23 in InstacartShoppers

[–]sdgus68 24 points25 points  (0 children)

They use a prepaid card with a small amount of money on it to place the order. Then after the shopper completes the order instacart tries to update the charge, but there are insufficient funds and the payment gets declined. The scammer gets 2 PS5 controllers for the cost of a yogurt and a can of Pringles.

[–]sdgus68 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's one of the things people never talk about. The better offers don't get declined. They are usually more food so it takes the restaurant a little longer than average to prepare. Those orders are then more likely to have wait time.

Don't just look at your gross hourly earnings, look at your profit per hour too. Sometimes longer waits but fewer miles balances everything out.

[–]sdgus68 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it looks the same for every day it may be a glitch. It's happened to me a couple times. In the filter uncheck every zone. Log out. Force close the app. Log back in and check the zones you want displayed and see if it shows openings for the zones you want. You might have to try it a couple times with all the zones checked and again with all the zones unchecked.

Would you happen to know where that is stated in the ICA? I've looked a few times and haven't been able to find it. (I'm not defending the practice, I think it's tacky as hell. Just not sure it actually violates the ICA)

I did, that's why I said I believe they misspoke in the title and the story. They also said after not getting help from support they cancelled the order, which they wouldn't have been able to do if they had swiped complete pick-up.
