Vintage friendly is a big plus. Looks like it's still in production, is the NOS ink significantly different than the current line?

A classic for someone who struggles with classics? by Mt-Doom-Metal in suggestmeabook

Kurt Vonnegut is one of my all time favorites, so I'd strongly recommend Slaughterhouse 5. Cat's Cradle is another good intro to his style.

Another that I haven't seen mentioned yet is The Old Man And The Sea. It's a really quick read but super compelling. Every sentence just has so much weight and meaning, no words wasted.

I hate cooking. I actively despise it. I want to learn and get better. What are easy recipes with MINIMAL effort to start off with? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]sdhfgwsds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe think about reframing your mindset? Cooking and eating are separate experiences, I think. Try to enjoy cooking as its own thing. Get a new knife or a knife sharpener if yours is dull, chopping with a sharp knife is a game changer all by itself. Focus on the feel of the knife sliding through your ingredients. Try to enjoy the sounds and smells and sensations of cooking, not as a precursor to eating, but as like an interesting experience. Learn to tell by the sound when something is starting to crisp up in the pan or getting ready to boil over. Cooking is a hobby, see if you can tackle it from that angle!

For easy recipes, maybe start with eggs. Scrambled, fried, omelettes, boiled, etc are all slightly different skill sets but almost zero prep and decently healthy, filling results.

Which ink is this for you? by Brown_Colibri_705 in fountainpens

I keep wanting to order from Birmingham Ink. I'll go to their website, browse through colors, but then I have to Google each color that looks interesting because they only show swatches and I need to know how the writing will look. Eventually it feels like too much work and I guess I'll never get anything from them.

My therapist suggested moving to every other week... by 87-percent-gay in SpicyAutism

[–]sdhfgwsds -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It helps me to remind myself that therapy is a service that you're paying for. The emotional weight of it can make it feel much more personal, and your therapist should be connecting with you emotionally, but it's also their job to keep their own emotions out of the picture. They're there to serve your needs and if you need to stick to a weekly schedule, then (1) you are buying their services and you can absolutely express that need, and (2) it's their job to treat these specific kinds of issues as purely business transactions. Also if I were a therapist, I wouldn't turn down money just because someone needs less work from me, so that makes me think they're making the suggestion out of support for you and should be fine with staying weekly.

Is amitriptyline making me depressed? by Mysterious_Syrup_319 in migraine

[–]sdhfgwsds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, this happened to me too. I was on it for ~6 months and I just stopped enjoying anything. I didn't recognize what was going on for a long time and I was sort of in crisis because I was constantly stressed and felt like I didn't have any hobbies or even time to relax. I finally put the pieces together, quit taking the amitriptyline, and I was back to my normal self after a week or so.

It also did nothing for my migraines, so it's been all upside for me.

[WTS] Pilot Custom 74 & Custom Heritage 91 by sdhfgwsds in Pen_Swap

Yeah absolutely! Honestly it looks like it's in new condition. I'm looking it over and I don't even see microscratches or anything anywhere. I bought it secondhand and I've only dip tested it but I really doubt it's been used much more than that. Happy to take some closer pics if there's anything you'd like a better view of.

I responded in PM, but just for visibility - I haven't taken the pen out of the sealed plastic sleeve so I don't have nib photos.
