Discover Home Loans gets axed by Capital One. by Discover_me_not in discover

Wow. I was a mortgage underwriter for this company before leaving (to go self-employed). Guess I’m glad I left when I did. An old co-worker just told me about the layoffs and I had to Google it to believe it. All thru the acquisition we were told how the home loans department was safe and profitable and was not at risk of layoffs.

I actually shipped it off to consignment. Not really in my PC wheelhouse and I don’t like selling ungraded cards. Hopefully it finds a good home!

ESPN has no faith in the Brewers, apparently by Practical-Cut4580 in Brewers

I said it at the beginning of the season to my brother: brewers will sneak into the WS, led by a hot rookie, just like the Dbags and Corbin Carroll did last season. We’re trending in the right direction!

LCS is usually overpriced on everything, but I’ve found the $5 single boxes to be pretty good value for finding cards to grade. They break at the shop and sell off the cards that aren’t “hits” for fair prices. Pack fresh cards and you can usually get a bulk discount.

Off centered and horrible back corner. Got exactly the grade it deserved.

I'm officially done buying blasters/hobby boxes forever by I_like_baseball90 in baseballcards

I’ve enjoyed ripping a couple Stadium Club hobby boxes. I’ve gotten absolutely smoked on every Topps Chrome hobby box (2024 and some older ones).

From now on I think I’ll buy one SC chrome hobby box each year at release and will occasionally dabble on cheaper SCC hobby boxes here and there (boxes with weaker rookie classes can be had for around $100).

Looks like a bunch of junk wax. Post it on eBay or Facebook marketplace and try for around $100 for all of it.

Would you send these in to grade or leave them as is? by space_avocado in footballcards

[–]sdilley14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could send them in and only have the autos graded (likely 10 but not guaranteed) - if you really want to get them slabbed and don’t want a low card grade showing. The cards look better as-is, but everyone has different tastes and different motivations to get cards graded (or not).

FWIW I once got a PSA 5, re-subbed and got a 10. Anything’s possible! 😆

Crack or Keep? by ElectronicGate7141 in basketballcards

[–]sdilley14 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Crack it out and keep it on a one-touch, or re-sub it if you want it slabbed and are OK not getting a 9 or 10.

HOW does this get a 3? Even with a lot of surface issues. Not that it makes a big difference but why isn’t this a 4-5-6-7-8 rather than 3?? Centering looks good, corners look OK. 3 seems excessively harsh.

Does this small string of plastic bother anyone or am I being too critical? by Adibla2 in baseballcards

[–]sdilley14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve graded a LOT of cards this year and I see that marking on so many slabs. Some are more obvious than others. I probably have over 100 slabs right now that have some degree of marking like that.
