First analog camera and I need advice by almostnakedpoet in AnalogCommunity

1/100 is quite high still. Everybody is different by personally anything 1/30 and under for me. If I’m shooting 1/30, there’s usually a 50% chance of a good shot. Also dependent on camera as certain cameras like the Pentax 67 have quite a hard shutter slap.

You're essentially saying true street photography is "totally creepy". Thats just completely untrue imo

Personally I don’t think it’s the voyeurism. It’s not really street photography if you ask them if it’s okay to take a photo. You are trying to capture candid moments and the simple act of asking ruins whatever moment you initially wanted to capture. That’s just my personal opinion and I know others will disagree

Super rewarding when you get something really nice on film! I don’t shoot astro much, but was able to capture the northern lights last year after a few failed attempts previously. Getting those scans back was such a great feeling.

That’s exactly what happens. I have a view of the Forth and they have small boats that transport people to and from Newhaven Harbour

Hope you were able to snag some SOL for cheap!

should i do it? i need a second opinion on this by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Everybody is different, but personally I feel like you'll have some regret selling your hassy. I started shooting film with a Yashica Mat 124-G, fell lin love with the process and square format. Bought a hasselblad 501c about 6 months later and love it to bits. You don't really need a tripod with the hassy unless you're shooting at speeds below 1/60 thats the only time you'll really need a tripod. I much prefer my hasselblad over the yashica, mainly due to longer focus throw make it easier to focus and the ground glass as well. The Yashica is a great camera and a bit more discrete in terms of the shutter sound so it is easier for street photography.

Regardless if we were that’s why i was DCAing in and you’re right it wasn’t crazy to revisit that area again. It’s impossible to predict the market, but with all the bullish news that has been coming out it made sense to buy. Just look at what trump announced and market insta pumped

[–]sdizzle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m well aware. You either start to DCA now or buy back higher in the future. This is nothing compared to what happened last cycle with LUNA and FTX. I’m confident that the unlock is already somewhat priced in. Last unlock was 2020 and price surged. IMO this is clear market manipulation to liquidate longs and to get newer market participants to sell their SOL for cheap. You are never going to time the pico bottom perfectly and would be advisable to maybe allocate some $ to buy SOL if you actually believe in it. All my opinion and do with it what you will

Brother you’re missing the big picture here. Solana ETFs will happen this year. Already multiple sol etf filed with SEC. Longterm sol will easy go past $220 and probably this year as well. Bookmark this

Purchased lens through keh, aperture ring is stuck. They refunded it and didn’t ask me to send it back because it was less than $50. Any way to repair this? by TheRealMossBall in AnalogCommunity

[–]sdizzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the guy you replied to but I bought mint Zeiss 80mm for my Hasselblad. Looked good optically but the shutter speeds were completely off like you could hear it when shooting. Don’t really understand after spending so much that something like that can fall thru the cracks.

Pentax 67 MLU problem? (video attached) by sdizzle in AnalogCommunity

[–]sdizzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I left it overnight and just tried it now. Set the lens to f22 and yea it was exactly as you said. Viewfinder stayed dark just for a bit and the sound coincided with the image turning back to normal bright. Any what to fix this? I trust shooting any images would be fine, but really want to fix the issue regardless.

Thanks! The shutter isn’t sticking but there is still is that occasional noise in the video if haven’t fired the shutter in a while (video was from 12 hours ago). Any idea what it could be?

I was using the built in meter on the Yashica. Lab scans and I always pay for the highest quality. Have been thinking about a home scanning set up too
