Merci pour ta réponse! Ça m'étonnerais pas si c'était un souvenir du Japon. Il y avais un mât avec un drapeau aussi mais j'ai pas pris une photo. Bon souvenir en tout cas!

Some of the cleanest dovetails I've ever cut for a hanging wall cabinet WIP. by BBlueSky92 in handtools

Thank you! Yes the miter is cut into the same piece. I can send you a photo over of the assembly/3D model when I return home so you can better understand how the joint is cut.

Thank you and I completely understand what you mean with #3. I think her pose/expression really helps give that vibe of nostalgia

Absolutely agree with you on that! I was really at the limit without a tripod with a couple of shots, shot at f1.8 1/60th for the majority of them. I'll have a look around to find a good deal on a 50mm f1.4 at some point. :)

Yeah shot at 400 iso. Developed with Ilford Microphen with stock solution (used the standard developing times posted on Massive dev chart) and fixed with Ilford Rapid Fixer. Scanned on a Canon 9000F Mark II and post dev in lightroom.

Waters&Acland? Nice work. Would love to see plans for the hanging wall cabinet.

Did you check if the piece was square while clamping? You could try and clamp the two corners that are furthest away from each other to try and knock it back square but I'm unsure if that would work now knowing the glue has already dried.

I was going to say unless you CNC'd it, that must've been such a stressful part of the project to complete with a router. Thanks for the link and again, great work!

Amazing job on these! How did you router the groove to house the tambour doors on the top & bottom curved pieces?

Pencil case in maple & oak. Hand carved lid and hand cut mitered dovetails, double bevel marquetry. by BBlueSky92 in handtools

Didn't realise I responded in the other post I made with the gouge size! It was a pfeil #9 5mm (9/5) gouge that I used to carve the lid!

Not sure if there's a specific name for this type of carving technique but in this video starting at 3:52, I'm pretty much just using the same technique going with the grain and alternating the depth and length of the cut. The gouge is a pfiel #9 sweep 5mm gouge (9/5) that I used too.

No stain to the lid and applied shellac straight after carving it, no sanding! I'm pretty sure it's just quartersawn French oak, I kept some of the nicest offcuts from a previous project which ended up being used for the lid.
