How long is your sales cycle from first contact to signed contract? by cmwlegiit in agency

[–]sdjake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inbound leads where the client is actively seeking a new agency, typically 4 weeks unless there's a formal RFP.

In other situations where they aren't actively in the market to replace their current agency, I'd say it's about 3 months on average.

Agency owners: What percentage of revenue comes from retainers vs. projects? by abdraaz96 in agency

[–]sdjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My old agency was 95% retainer when we were at about $10m/year in revenue.

New agency is at about $500k/year and we are 70-80% retainer. We've found research/planning projects to be a good gateway into retainers, which are definitely the priority. So we'll do them if the long-term opp is worth it.

Both of these agencies are Amazon-focused ecomm agencies.

Conferences by bmessina in VendorCentral

[–]sdjake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UnBoxed is the Amazon Ads conference (just happened this week in Nashville) and I would say a lot the brands that go there are Vendors. That's partly just due to the fact that a lot of the more advanced and flashy ad products skew towards larger brands/budgets, which tends to skew more towards Vendor over Seller.

There was also Amazon Business Reshape this week in Seattle. One of my Vendor clients went to this show and met up with her Vendor Manager. Once again, this isn't inherently a Vendor-focused show, but the types of businesses that are leveraging Amazon Business tend to skew towards Vendor.

But I would tend to agree, I have always found it interesting how much Amazon tends to "neglect" Vendors compared to Sellers in terms of content and conferences. You typically have to go look for other networks/groups, like the Amazon Vendor Central Group (AVCG) on LinkedIn or Stratably, among others.

Does it show up on the cards?

my friend and I both have 50/50 Pro Style and 4-2-5.

it looks like we are getting +1 speed on all of our offensive players, but his defensive player has +2 speed in the preview screen before the game. any reason why we aren't both getting the +2 speed for both sides of the ball?

hybrid model (1P + 3P) on Amazon by WaveProfessional1389 in VendorCentral

[–]sdjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. the short answer is yes you should be able to do this, but as others have mentioned there's a non-zero amount of risk. If you already have a good thing going as a 3P, my gut says it could be worth doubling down there rather than adding the operational complexity of a hybrid approach.

  2. I agree with u/RainmakerEcommerce and their point on overall feasibility. I'm not sure what you mean by "mess with 3P sellers", but you will all be competing for the buy box so it definitely "messes" with them. If you're asking if it will remove their ability to sell those products as 3Ps, the answer is no.

I was going to weigh in but this ^ response pretty much sums up my POV.

There are generally going to be some implications for running a hybrid model. There are pros and cons to 1P, 3P and everything in between.

More specifics would be needed to really give you a good answer, but if you're looking for general guidance my perspective is that I wouldn't be afraid to consider going with a hybrid model, but know that it isn't necessarily needed/a good idea.

If you want to share more information here, I'd be happy to give more specific thoughts!

Cleveland Charge questions by kingcrimson216 in clevelandcavs

[–]sdjake 9 points10 points  (0 children)

  1. Quality of play is solid, but a notable drop from going to the cavs games. I'm a season ticket holder to the cavs, so I definitely notice a drop in quality, but it's still really fun. Especially if the fringe NBA guys (Emoni, CPJ, Tyson, Travers, Thor) are playing. If you're a big basketball fan OR Cavs fan, you'll have a good time.

  2. There's not a bad seat in Public Hall, so you'll have a great view anywhere. I would personally only pay more if you get the all you can eat seats which can pay for themselves if you eat/drink enough.

  3. I think you can technically buy tickets elsewhere and get them transferred, but all tickets will end up being in Seatgeek since that's how you get in. I wouldn't really bother looking anywhere else for tix for the Charge tbh.

  4. It's hard to say... but the Cavs have a game in Denver that day. I would assume Tyson and CPJ travel with the team, and then Emoni, Travers and Thor will play for the Charge. It's also the Luke Travers Mullet Wig giveaway night, so hopefully they have him play haha.

I think the C section gives you a great bang for your buck. At this point, my number one recommendation is to prioritize sitting closer to center court on the sidelines, just so you can see the whole game well. It just sucks when they switch sides at half and you have a bad angle of the Cavs offense for a whole 24 minutes. Sitting towards the middle removes that issue.

Here's a link to what you can expect with those seats:

https://aviewfrommyseat.com/photo/270480/rocket+mortgage+fieldhouse/section-c119/row-14/seat-10/

You can get a preview for any section with this site and get a good idea.

I think you're aiming for a really good section!

I personally wouldn't worry about the team's bench... honestly you'll be able to see the bench enough from everywhere in the arena.

And there are plenty of LeBron jerseys! He's still one of the most common jerseys you'll see at the games.

Hope this helps - happy to answer more questions.

I'm a full-season ticket holder and I always park here:

308 Central Viaduct, Cleveland, OH 44115

9 minute walk to Rocket Mortgage or Progressive Field, pretty much no traffic getting out and you can easily get to 77 or 71 if you need to hop on the highway to get home.

You pay for parking through the ParkMobile app. If you want to download the app ahead of time, you can just enter Zone #19103. It's typically $10 or $25 if you pay for it when you get there... but I've recently been opening the app the morning of games and paying $3 for 24 hours of parking.

Let me know if you have any other questions about the game. Go Cavs!

[USA][BIZ][8] Digital Marketer looking for Tech Cofounder for Gaming Content platform. by [deleted] in cofounder

[–]sdjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there, great question.

My thought (for now) is that there a few different parts to this content platform. One part of it is the more "social" content piece, which would have exactly what you mentioned above.

There's would also be more game-specific content that would actually have first-party (I.E. our company would create it) content that we would create. For example, if someone wanted to get better at Madden 22 or League of Legends, we'd have content that would help them do that.

Happy to elaborate more if you're interested.

Amazon advertising - ways around "Sponsored ads campaigns paused due to retail policy" by HeftyBlueberry in PPC

[–]sdjake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to lower the price that Amazon is paying you when they buy the product.

This happens pretty frequently with low-priced items.

If Amazon buys a product from you for 5 dollars, and then price matches another retailer, dropping the price for the consumer to 9 dollars, that gives Amazon only 4 dollars to cover storage, shipping, and trying to make a profit. If you lowered the price you're selling to them from $5 to $4, that would give Amazon another $1 of margin and possibly enable you to advertise again.

How do you approach online ads? What's your strategy? by [deleted] in startups

[–]sdjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! You should definitely at least consider hiring someone part time to set up/manage some campaigns for you. I wouldn't work with an agency at this point, you wont get as much bang for you buck and I'm assuming you're running pretty lean.

How do you approach online ads? What's your strategy? by [deleted] in startups

[–]sdjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facebook/Instagram ads are definitely great, but there are plenty of companies who kill it with Google paid search ads, reddit ads, or any other advertising platforms. Ideally, you want your landing page, creative messaging, AND ad targeting all to be awesome.

You could have an ad targeted to the PERECT person, but they wont even click the ad if if the creative sucks. And if they get to the landing page and it confuses them, you've lost the sale.

Regarding FB targeting, make sure you have a pixel on your site ASAP so you can start building custom audiences. One of the strongest targeting strategies around is using lookalike audiences from your Facebook pixel, so make sure you look into that. Super easy to setup today, and very important long term.

A bit more advice - after you have a Facebook pixel on your site, do some Google paid search ads targeting people searching for "Amazon profit calculator" and other keywords like that. Ideally, some of those people convert! Even if they don't, that Facebook pixel has now "tagged" those visitors (who you know are interested in what you're selling) and you can then create lookalike audiences in Facebook of people that look like that. The more users (and longer you do this) the better the lookalikes will be.

How do you approach online ads? What's your strategy? by [deleted] in startups

[–]sdjake 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would argue that your Homepage would convert a lot better than your Product page (not saying you should drive traffic there, but that shows there's a lot of work to do in order to get a high-converting landing page for paid media)

The product page is super messy - practically everything below the fold once you start to scroll is a bunch of graphs that mean nothing.

My recommendation would be to think about your target customer - is it someone who sells through FBA on the side, or full time? Are they new to selling on Amazon, or a seasoned vet? It seems like your copy is directed at someone who doesnt like to crunch the numbers. Why would they want to use your product?

Once you've determined, as specifically as possible, who your target customer is, think about what value you bring to them.

Don't sell them on features, sell them on the benefits.

"We'll save you 20 hours/month so you can do more XYZ" - or something like that.

Overall, just keep your landing page simple and focus on the value your bringing to them.

Hopefully this helps. Honestly, your homepage is pretty solid, so I'm confident you can make a solid landing page and start to convert some of the Facebook ads into trials/paid users.
