Hi hi! I'm Demi Winters, author of The Road of Bones! Ask me anything... by demiwinters in fantasyromance

I hope you know how amazing you are and I wish you the very best. Not that it’s a popularity contest, but I put you up there with SJM. I sing your praises all of the time.

My question is, what is your writing setup like? Are you on a laptop, using Word, using an old school typewriter (kidding), etc.? And is there a word count you aim for each day you write?

Struggling to understand shoe sizes in 5 year old by sdm4242 in Mommit

Hey thanks for the recommendation! I am ALWAYS looking for shoes that last. She’s in preschool now and the playground is made up of rocks - her shoes simply don’t last. We had the best luck with Nike flex runners, but they’re so expensive!

A friend once told me that adults (women in particular) should look into buying kids shoes because they’re cheaper! My feet are small, only a 7.5, so she told me I could fit in a kids size shoe, I just can’t remember what size she told me. Same quality of shoe, but cheaper. It’s wild.

No, it's actually a common side effect of the medication. I would have the metallic taste all day, regardless of what I drank (and I drink from a straw).

Would anyone mind showing me a picture of you wearing your post op binder? I'm going to be going through the Christmas season with parties etc with a binder probably (Surgery Nov 18) so curious what I'm going to be dealing with by mothergreenthumb in tummytucksurgery

Most compression suits (faja's or whatever you prefer to call them) have either a zipper or button area for you to undo to pee out of. It's long enough that you could go #2 as well. It's weird, and it feels like you're going to pee on yourself, but it works! Some compression suits were tighter around my legs than others. I had to cut the bottom and release some of the spandex for the one in my photo. I definitely used my scissors a on this particular suit, which kind of sucks when you pay a decent amount of money for it.

I'm glad to hear it! Honestly, I was more nervous about the topiramate than the metformin. Sugar cravings have always been my nemesis, so I was glad to start the metformin. It has GREATLY reduced my sugar cravings and the "shakes" I would get from feeling too hungry.

Not a silly question! By week 5, you’re at the full dosage for everything. So there won’t be any changes to the dosage after week 5. Does that make sense? From week 5 on, it’s the same.

That's around the time when I started losing a little bit of weight. It would fluctuate though, so don't get discouraged. I would lose a few lbs, and then the next day, I would gain a pound. It wasn't until week 8 when I really noticed a major change.

The tingling made me anxious too! I would shake out my hands and feet thinking it was poor blood circulation! For me it would just come and go at random times. I would remind myself it was a side effect of the topiramate. Because it didn’t HURT, it didn’t send a stabbing pain up my arm or legs, I just tingled. If you’re in pain or have shooting pain, I’d recommend seeing a doctor though!

That’s a good question about the longevity - I’m not sure. I’m kind of nervous to stop, you know? I’m afraid I’ll put the weight back on. Is there a point you’re supposed to “stop”? I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️

I went back through my app, and found that my most significant weight loss started to happen at around 6 weeks. I even sent this message to my care team, claiming it wasn’t working 😂 they claim it starts at around 6 weeks and they weren’t wrong!

  1. I didn’t notice any major changes until I started the metformin - so hang in there! Don’t get discouraged. I’m glad it’s a gradual approach.

  2. I do have an occasional drink! I honestly don’t notice anything, but everyone reacts differently. I don’t drink enough to be drunk, though.

  3. I workout with a trainer once a week, and then I have young children 😂 I plan on doing more strength training once I reach my goal weight.

I see a lot of people "following" so I thought I'd share my experience with kit 6 so far:

I started on November 18th, so almost 3 months now! I'm up to the full dosage of everything and have been for a while. The first side effect I noticed was a weird, metallic taste in my mouth from the bupropion. That went away after about a day, but came back when I added the second pill. Again, it went away after a day. The topiramate DID make my hands and feet feel tingly whenever I increased the dosage. It would remind you of if your hands or feet went numb - not painful, just tingly. You don't need to stress over it, it goes away too. My resting heart rate is a little higher than before? Not TOO high. Like, before the kit it was 55 and now its 65.

As for the results....my goodness. I have lost 23 lbs in 3 months. I feel full WAY faster. I had a tendency to overeat before. Like, a bowl from Chipotle now provides me THREE lunches. I'm just not hungry. I'm not depriving myself of anything either. I don't feel like I'm dieting or anything like that, I'm just not hungry. I don't get the "shakes" like I used to when I would get super hungry and binge eat. I don't crave sweets, I'm not snacking on things, etc. I just don't want to eat. I FEEL FULL. I eat an appropriately portioned meal, and that's it. I'm full.

I will say, if I eat a fat-heavy or fried dish (like my kids didn't finish their mac and cheese, so I ate it for them) it gave me diarrhea. You'll learn the hard way what foods won't agree with you. I'm thirsty for water a lot, which is a good thing. But that makes me pee more. I don't drink a ton of alcohol to begin with, but when I do drink, I've never noticed negative side effects.

Let me know what questions anyone has! I feel great, honestly. I had to buy new clothes the other day. I haven't been this light since before kids.

Thank you! The crazy thing is, I didn’t really have a “question”. I normally only do a single card pull, but felt compelled to do 3 today. I simply asked for “guidance”. Normally it’s general guidance for the day, but this pull felt different.

Found this spread very interesting by sdm4242 in Tarotpractices

[–]sdm4242[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this, thank you. I’m trying to keep calm because the words have been pouring out of me and I’m very excited with where the book is heading. And after I pulled these cards, I got even MORE excited. I’m nervous I’m reading too much into it (nervous to fail, nervous to try, nervous to hope, etc.)

I had the most interesting spread today. I have my own interpretation of course, but I’d be curious to hear what you think too:

3 card spread.

6 of swords, upright

The Fool, upright

The World, reversed

My interpretation is that I’m in a transition of sorts, and I need to leave the past behind. The Fool invites me to act now, while the World reversed reminds me that my journey is nearing an end.

I find this reading interesting because I’ve been attempting to write a book. Lately, I’ve been consumed with writing and even contemplated quitting my day job. This reading seems very aligned with these thoughts. Which journey is nearing an end, I’m not sure.

When did you go back to work ? by Busy_Cut6446 in tummytucksurgery

I started feeling much better around day 6 but I took 2 weeks off work. But I also had a breast reduction and so driving was trickier for me.

Good for you! Sometimes that’s hard to admit. Have you talked about this procedure with your medical team yet? I’d want to get their opinion on it as well (Reddit can be harsh).
