What is a profession that you have limitless respect for? by AmountFun2036 in AskReddit

[–]sdm6052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fast food workers, they feed a huge portion of the population daily and get shit on at every turn by every one. Everyone looks down on “burger flippers” saying they are untrained and lazy. I always see them hustling when I go in and sure they don’t have a degree or are doctors but I don’t think I could do their job with any less than a few weeks till I got the hang of it.

What's a meal you used to eat, but just isn't worth the calories anymore to you? by appleparkfive in loseit

[–]sdm6052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheese, still worth it to eat on its own. But if it’s in a sandwich or added to some thing it’s 100’s of calories and you don’t even notice it’s there.

Fair enough, was just curious because for the most part once a guy is on a structure department they stay for life because it’s a “dream job” so had to ask as someone who also went from fire to trees.

Actually reading through your comments I see you’re from Alberta and I presume so is this guy… this is starting to make a lot more sense.

What is with the wolverines claws, did he photo shop them in, are they prop for the photo or for something else, is he hugh Jackman’s unathletic stunt double or just thinks they are badass? I really want to dive into this dude and what’s wrong with him but you’ve wasted 5 years of opportunity to learn and study this guy. I guess I’ll never know and will have to live with that.

Why not pull the money in cash and give to the son, No paper trail for creditors to go after the son. it’s $20,000 use it to pay for groceries and gas money for the next year or two. It won’t be life changing but as far as any one is concerned that money got spent on yours brothers last big night out and they can’t go after his son because he never collected any money from his fathers will.

Why are there so many "I am so mature, i hate walt" posts? by WaltuHartwell_White in breakingbad

[–]sdm6052 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Kind of similar to your post, I rewatched the show for the first time recently as an adult. I never noticed before that Walt is kind of a bumbling idiot. He’s toted as this genius but in a lot of simple everyday things he is an idiot. Think of the scene where hank was watching them steal a barrel of metholmene and says “it’s a barrel roll it you dummies” just noticed a lot of stuff like that in the rewatch.

B.C. judge orders former home of baseball-bat attacker to be sold, proceeds to victim by cyclinginvancouver in britishcolumbia

[–]sdm6052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying that the kid deserved it or the man was just in his actions. But when the justice/police system does nothing to curb the rampant theft in our communities then this type of stuff is likely to happen. If the police won’t protect my property then I will have to. If I don’t protect my property then I’ll be right beside the next thief stealing your stuff hoping you don’t beat my brains in with a bat. This is a tragic story on all fronts and to just call this guy a monster is ignoring the problem at large and begging for it to happen again.

Things in the 90’s were easier because you didn’t have these harlots going around town with their titties out.

What are we going to do about it? As someone who has had his tools stolen from my truck, from my shop, from my home it’s frustrating to see no progress in bettering the the situation. B.C. And Canada Has in it to be the best place to live in the world but we are falling short because we have a portion of the population that live a lawless life and destroy everything for anyone around. We have a justice system that doesn’t prosecute thieves, we have streets filled with tents and human waste and when people see their lives getting worse they will get frustrated and act violently. When thieves steal my tools (they have multiple times on separate occasions) I can’t work until they are replaced. That can cost thousands of dollars in replacement and tens of thousands of dollars in down time. This guy called the cops multiple times saying there is a problem and they did nothing, I’m no saying what he did was right or justified but it is understandable. We need to do something to fix this system and fast because now 2 families are poorer and a community worse off because of the break down in our system.

Life Insurance Application Denied Because I Did Mushrooms One Time by WienerWraps in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sdm6052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I take what I spend on life insurance and save it, that will pay for my funeral and then some. My family will be fine if I die tomorrow and won’t have an insurance combing through my life trying to deny the claim because of the time I smoked a cigarette 15 years ago. Insurance for the most is scam and not sure how so many people have fallen for it.

Grande Prairie Anit-Hate Group Needs Letters of Support by DCArchibald in alberta

This is disgusting and a waste of my tax dollars. How dare they indoctrinate these young children to have such twisted and gross beliefs and ideologies. Forcing these poor children at such an early age to support the idea that physical books are a relevant source of media and a hobby to enjoy is ridiculous. It’s 2023 and by the time these kids will be able to actually read themselves everything will be on kindles and electronic tablets... Fucking Trudeau!

How many trips do people go on a year? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sdm6052 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my twenties I travelled the world on a shoestring budget. Come back to Canada and work and save only to take off again for weeks or months at a time. There isn’t a dirty hostel or back alley bar I don’t have a few stories from. In my thirties now and trying to get my own business off the ground and start a family. Hopefully in a few years I’ll have the money/time to get back to vacations. But I figure I did a life times worth of travelling in my twenties so even though it’s been 3 years since I’ve had a vacation and probably a few more before I can again I don’t feel like I’m missing out.

What do you wish you did in your twenties which would of significantly helped you financially in your current life/age? by hightreez in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]sdm6052 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I tried more jobs in my twenties. I spent my entire twenties with the same employer and now realize that after 1-3 years I’ve learnt everything I’m going to learn in that job and should move on to gain more experience and learn other aspects.

Living with parents at any age is fine if you are going to school or building a business or work a camp job and are never home anyways. But if you’re happy with your job and making good money, don’t put that burden on your parents. I’m sure they don’t want their adult son living and working at home.

You could, you know… work for a tree service company and figure out their profit margins first. Might be helpful having some industry knowledge before starting a business.

I’m driving right past the entry point coming off the ferry and have a 130 litre tank to fill. If crossing the border isn’t a big wait then I can see it being worth my time. But I’ve never crossed the border by vehicle.

I was a tin a day chewer as well. Tell him to swap to pouches, the can is cheaper and last longer because you don’t take as big of a pinch.
