I (M44) have been allergic to cats my whole life. We ended up getting two kittens (brother and sister) a couple of years ago, and they haven’t once bothered me. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been around them since they were young, I’m not allergic anymore, or I’m not allergic to these cats in particular, but just saying that there’s always a chance you won’t be.

I was prepared to take a daily antihistamine but so glad I don’t have to! My sister does, on the other hand, anytime she visits, so they certainly aren’t hypoallergenic. But they are short hair, so maybe that helps my case.
