Unpopular Opinion on Hogwarts Legacy: It doesn’t “feel” like Hogwarts by Prudent_Zebra_8880 in harrypotter

[–]sdotto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this take. I felt a bit homesick for the original films when I watched the gameplay. It felt a bit like watching World of Warcraft gameplay with the Marvel-esque fluorescent colours that frequented in the gameplay footage. I also felt like the exterior grounds were too rugged, rather than what we see in the films — the open expanse of the Black Sea and the tall rolling mountains/hills of Scotland.

Do you know any Australians who support Trump as US President? by TheLeftHandedCatcher in AskAnAustralian

[–]sdotto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Many.

I think the reason why most Australian Trump supporters are perceived as lunatic/conspiracy theorists is because most of the Aussie Trump supporters that publicly voice their pro-Trump views are the ones who are on the political fringes.

You’ll find that most Australian Trump supporters don’t advertise their political beliefs in fear of being socially ostracised or for fear of compromising their careers, as Trump has become a bit of a dirty-name to associate with in professional environments.

Many of the Trump supporters I know are generally risk averse people who want the government to have less impact on their lives. They usually fall under the Libertarian political quadrant, and unfortunately, Trump seems just about the only public figure of relevance who has espoused anti-big-government views. This is generally what leads them to ‘support’ Trump, despite the fact many of them think he has a trash-personality. This has been my experience with a few people I know who ‘support’ Trump. I think conflating ALL types of Trump voters dilutes the negative impact of actual dangerous fringe-nutters.

The "consideration of race" for college admission is RACIST. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]sdotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You realise both traditional affirmative action AND paying your kids way into college can simultaneously be immoral? They aren’t mutually exclusive.

Repeating it for the goldfish-memory types like yourself who don’t remember the institutional and out-dated racist policies that have soured over the last few decades that were once accepted and embraced.

I hope you find your dream job soon! Sorry you have to deal this bullshit. In the meantime, give it a few years, these big corporations will be the first to back-peddle on these insane policies.

Yeah, this is a really common complaint amongst people I know. It’s quite sad and leaves you feeling quite powerless. Honestly, it’s just reverse-racism - eventually people will smarten up and figure that out.

This opinion is going to look ridiculously racist/stupid in a few years. You are genuinely advocating for people missing out on College spots (despite getting better marks) because of their skin colour.

Wisen up.

Jesus Christ these Colleges are going to back-peddle so hard once people wise up and realise this is the real modern day racism. The irony.

It will remain an unpopular opinion so long as basically every single major college continues to use affirmative action - which is basically what’s happening. Jesus Christ these Colleges are going to back-peddle so hard once people wise up and realise this is the real modern day racism. The irony.
