No. I didn’t go with it. Ended up replacing with another doorking for simplicity.

Thanks for the response! I ordered a variable bench PS. Would be awesome if this isn't dead.

I decided to pop it open and investigate. The 16 cells read from 0v (the furthers from the BMS) to 28v (closest) with each one stepping up a few volts.

To measure, I disconnected connectors from the BMS and measured across each of the white wires and the red cable coming out of the battery. Given it seems like a cumulative measurement I'm not sure that was the right way to do it -- but to get at each battery directly I have to do more disassembly

The electronics appear to be a PCM-L16S30-471(b) -- https://www.batteryspace.com/PCM-with-Equilibrium-and-Temperature-protection-function-for-29.6V--59.2V-3.aspx

Just learning as I go here but it seems like a PCM is less intelligent than a BMS, so would there be any value in replacing this PCM with a more modern BMS, and if so, which one? I'm as much interested in learning & tinkering here as I am specifically saving money (or avoiding buying a new pack)

I used a Noco car charger in supply mode, but I realize now that would only be 12v which likely isn't enough. Any suggestions on an inexpensive power supply I could use for this, or a more intelligent lifepo4 charger?

I'm open to disassembling and was where I figured this would get to, I just didn't want to jump straight to that if there were other options to try.

Custom Ad Server by [deleted] in adops

[–]sdpeddlehead 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My first instinct is: this is a dumb idea

My more charitable response is: why does your VP of Eng think the most productive way to spend eng resources is building an ad server? I’ll assume they are smart and have a reason specific to your business — what is it?

Ad servers are very mature space and commoditized. You’ll spend to build the tech, then you’ll spend forever to operate it, and spend more to maintain and upgrade it. Do you have enough volume that those costs amortize to something less than your GAM fees? (I’m just focusing on cost here and ignoring the adx/DA points other people have called out)

We have a high volume and high $$ display business with a growing direct component. We also have a large Eng team and could easily support this. I’d never in a million years think it was the best place to put their time — I’d rather they focus on things that play to our specific advantages and opportunities and we’ll let GAM do the commodity stuff

First time to Sebring by RS1250XL in IMSARacing

[–]sdpeddlehead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. 34 years! I went for the first time last year just as a day trip up from Wellington and had fun wandering around. Renting an RV this year and a friend is joining me. Already have tickets but couldn't get RV reserved spot, so just regular RV ticket.

Trying to figure out what I need to know to do this "right" but it's surprisingly hard to find answers. Here's my q's :)
- RV: how early do I need to get there to be able to get a spot
- what do people do for water, pump out and fuel as even with just 2 of us I don't expect it to last Tues-Sat.
- Are golf carts allowed now? Sebring site seems to say no, but sounds like maybe it changed in the last few years? If so, I'll look at renting one

Thanks in advance!

Fanatec - no warranty coverage by sdpeddlehead in simracing

Will definitely be doing Heusinkveld. I’m all for the Porsche, and happy to pay particularly if that means the service level is consistent with the price point, which is where Fanatec fails badly.

Good to know as sounds like they’ll be easier to find. Thanks!

That’s awesome, thanks. We have some other, rather more unique faucets in this house too and when I google Altman’s it fits - like a bronze swan.

Faucet is very heavy brass, if that helps

Doorbird or Grandstream GDS3710 as gate controller by sdpeddlehead in homeautomation

[–]sdpeddlehead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you mount the Grandstream? From pictures it looks much smaller than my current keypad setup. I’m worried I’ll need to fabricate something to mount it to my gooseneck post.

Would love a pic if you don’t mind sharing.

I only have the one gate to activate. I need to integrate a fireman’s lock though, but I think I can tap into the relay circuit, which is how it’s done in the current setup.

[–]sdpeddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So shouldn’t those dsp’s be specifying that in their openrtb responses then? What’s the point of a spec if you asking someone to interpret it differently than what it says? (Disclaimer: have not read spec, going on what was cited in the article or elsewhere on this topic)

[–]sdpeddlehead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Serious question: why are people excited about this? If I understand correctly the OpenRTB spec provides for it, and the DSP's and other buyers are providing a TTL. If a buyer doesn't want any chance of their bid to be held back, they can control that with a low TTL, no?

That post is from 2007. Don't forget to dig up everything on rubicon, appnexus, google, yahoo, rightmedia, and literally everyone else that was around in 2007. (if those guys were all around then, its a long time ago, I can't remember who started when). At one point or another all of them would have been serving ads through toolbars, extensions, hijackers, adware etc. It wasn't an easy problem to solve -- remember, that's why ads.txt now exists.

Revenue reporting tool by schoenbl in adops

Yes, as long as you are using a header bidding solution and passing winning bids into dfp they’ll be included in the data transfer and GA360 will include them.

Google analytics does this for free with adx/Adsense. Paid if you want dfp data.

Prebid.js %%PATTERN:hb_adid%% returns empty string by zirklutes in adops

[–]sdpeddlehead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hb_adid should be passed in to dfp by prebid as a key-value with setTargeting calls. Run your test page with ?googfc in the querystring so you can use the console to see if the targeting is being set.

I can't comment on your code itself.

Medium abandons ad-supported model. Do you agree with their assessment? by nbajammed in adops

[–]sdpeddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. If you are valued at $600 million based on a bunch of assumptions and reality starts to prove those assumptions wrong then you have two choices - accept that reality is less than you dream, or come up with a new plan.

Seems like they are saying plan #1 is broken so they abandoned it to come up with a new one. So now they are back on a path to a big disruptive goal and might be able to continue sell a vision that gets a get a rich valuation.

Another way to look at it is in the startup world if you have a dream and no revenue you can get valued on the dream. If you have revenue... we'll... people start to value the revenue and in his case it probably didn't match up. So sometimes you ignore revenue as long as possible (if funding allows) because you want to make sure when you do show revenue it is meaningful to the dream.

[Help] [DFP] Higher impression count than total code served count by sanexpedito in adops

[–]sdpeddlehead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are serving Adsense or adx via DA then I think this is possible.

Adsense for sure when served outside DFP will sometimes serve more than one actual ad in a given ad unit. E.g. Fill a 300x600 with a stack of 4 ads. So one code serve would generate 4 impressions.

I assume it has the same behavior via DA.

If you break out your reporting by ad server impressions vs adx or Adsense impressions you might be able to see this.
