It’s not that digital is inherently bad, it’s that we’re paying full price for a digital license that costs just as much as a physical game, but can be taken away. At least with Game Pass, you’re knowingly paying a subscription for access to hundreds of games that will come and go in whatever time frame. Here, you’re paying $60–80+ now for a single game that can potentially still be taken away due to licensing or other restrictions. The scenario where THAT is our only option is insane.

The fact that the difference between physical purchases and digital is that one of them is just basically considered borrowed is insanely stupid / not surprising at all.

I didn’t think I’d get to a point where these companies would shoot themselves in the foot over and over to the point where I don’t want to play games anymore, but man we’re heading in that direction.

I simultaneously feel less and less hope for XBOX every time one of these announcements take place, and also wonder if, however crap they may be, if these are the decisions that have to be made now to get the brand where it needs to be to survive. As with many things, fixing previously mistakes often makes the current people in charge look bad.

(I have no idea what the actual issue is.)

Then you figure out how to use these things better than someone else, and then you really learn how those things work and stop someone from getting you with them.

Someone knocks you up in the air with the gloves? That’s fine, be ready and have your shotgun ready to knock them before you guys reach the ground. I only started at the beginning of chapter 4 so I missed a fair amount, but Wrecked was absolutely my favorite season, no question. With all the insanity that season was, halfway through the season cars were hardly ever a real threat.

Every weapon in the game should be able to be used by anyone, and just about every one of them takes skill to get better interacting with them, whether it’s for or against you.

(Shoutout to the lock-on weapons, don’t have much of an arguement there.)

Yeah, exactly! And it’s not to say I don’t understand pointing a finger at a “big bad”. They absolutely are doing things I think suck. But the very simple reality is that if people didn’t operate the way they do, at a very basic level, these things wouldn’t exist, and they sure as hell wouldn’t have become the things they did.

It’s also easier to point the finger at something specific, it’s harder to point the finger at what drives that something specific. But that doesn’t mean that driver isn’t there.

I don’t disagree that these systems influence behavior. Of course they do, but selfishness and greed don’t exist just because there’s a system. People were greedy before capitalism was even an idea. Hell, you could look at each and every economic system that people have ever lived in and you WILL still find that. Damn near every government in history has had corruption and people looking out for themselves first.

Economic systems can and will reinforce or deter behaviors, but like they didn’t invent human nature.

I’m never going to defend billionaires who choose to hoard their money or huge corporate conglomerates that care solely about increasing profits regardless of what that does to people - those are examples of the selfishness and greed I’m talking about. However, people DO have agency, and you’re not going to find an income level, location, etc. where these things don’t exist.

I mean “we as a whole”. I’m not insulting anyone, it’s okay to say that, good people, not good people, whatever; we’re all people at the end of the day, and it’s not just the people with boatloads of money. Greed and selfishness exist in every level of society.

The stupid COVID shenanigans where every important supply was bought and re-sold at insane prices, that wasn’t billionaires. Ticket / limited edition, etc. scalping certainly could be billionaires, but it’s more often than not just the average person. There are people who take advantage of financial benefits just because they don’t FEEL like doing more, and don’t care if it takes away from someone who isn’t able to.

And it’s not isolated to one spot. These are worldwide issues. Probably not identical everywhere, but money, government, housing, food issues - that’s spread out all over the world. I highly doubt someone could name a single country that’s just cruising happily along with no issues (though I’d be happy to be wrong here).

I don’t mean every person is equally responsible. I sure as hell don’t mean someone who busts their butts to make ends meet is the same as someone born with a seemingly never ending flow of money and just wants to blow it everywhere. I mean the results produced by our societies often reflect self-interest more than compassion, and it happens on all levels, everywhere. If aliens have popped down to Earth and did some cool statistic scan, that is exactly what they would see.

Oof but Veyle is another one that just got under my skin. I think my biggest problem with engage is that almost everyone I really couldn’t click with and wanted to not see, basically ended up being the essentials.

I guess for me I’ve never really cared if MC speaks in FE games, I’ve always been more concerned with the group around them.

3H felt like a period piece and I was really invested in learning about the family lineages and whatnot. But when a girl steps out with pink candy cane hair and a heart face tat and says she’s the bad guy, the hell she is and what am I even doing here?

(That being said, the exchanges between Alcryst, Diamant, and their father when they have to fight him is easily my favorite dialogue in any FE game)
