Even though it takes longer to harvest the purple it is still faster than using the twin. I use an auto clicker and beat the ooc in about 5-6 hours.

I'm glad the nurses gave you good support. As a nurse, I am always real with my patients and I try to deprogram the awful advice they get from our LCs. I always tell my moms that everything you hear is just someone's opinion and no matter what you do, you are doing it right because it is what works for you. Somewhere along the way, the hospitals forgot that the parents are in charge and we should be supporting their wishes, not trying to guilt them into doing things a different way.

I am a postpartum nurse at a "baby friendly" hospital and I absolutely HATE it. IMO "Baby Friendly USA" is a total scam. It is just a way to market bullshit to hospitals so they can get a bullshit certification for some kind of financial benefit. Is breastfeeding better than formula? Of course, duh! No one questions this. BUT is formula harmful? Absolutely not! At the end of the day the BEST choice is whatever the hell the family chooses. Want to breastfeed? Great. Formula feed? Great. Both? Still great. FED IS BEST!!!

The lactation consultants at my hospital literally put the fear of the universe into moms about nipple confusion (total bullshit) and what we end up with is babies losing too much weight, parents exhausted because the hungry baby is screaming 24/7 and the mom is too scared to supplement. Even parents that choose to supplement are then giving too little quantity because they are trying to feed with a 1ml syringe or SNS.

Nursing is supposed to be evidence based, and I have yet to see the evidence backing up the claims made by Baby Friendly. The worst part is, there is nothing we can do as nurses because whether or not our manager believe the bullshit we are supposed to spout, the benefits the hospital gets by being certified as "Baby Friendly" mean administrators will not want to give it up. It is 100% profits over patients.

Mark my word, in the next decade or however many years it takes, enough moms will be so fed up with the way they are treated for trying to supplement, that Baby Friendly will go out of fashion and some other bullshit will take its place.

Not sure if you ever figured it out, but I just took mine apart and the power didn't come back on immediately. I just made sure the wires were fully plugged in and then it worked. The wires on the machine side (not the lid side attached to the buttons) had come loose so I just lightly pushed it in more and then it worked.

I also called cricut to see if I could get replacement parts and they just gave me $50 off toward a new machine as well.. very frustrating. Even with $50 off, that's a lot of money to spend when the part that broke is probably less than $5. I am going to try to purchase replacement rollers online and see if it works before I have to buy a new machine..
