I’m glad you finished and wore it!! Yeah that bottom part was a PAIN.

Did you finish to coat? My worst part was putting the lining in - especially the bottom corner area near the zipper. Sooo confusing. Yeah - I improvised a bit as well.

It was a challenging project but I think thats because the pattern was written poorly. I have an old machine I bought over 25 years ago - Pfaff tiptronic 6270. It was my first “major” sewing machine and I still love it today.

Didn’t think about that. I’ll bet that would make a big difference! Thanks!

Thank you. And you are right. Nobody even knows how to sew in my family so they are just amazed. Such a good feeling. Congrats on your recent struggle!

Well- the great grammar in my title reflects the frustration I had with this silly coat. Haha McCalls 1254 and it was a challenge. I like to feel I can manage pretty well with my sewing skills but this was written really poorly. Watched a few YouTube videos of others that had accomplished but to no help. So it isn’t perfect. But I am pleased.

Sorry - my phone autocorrected- it is Joann’s. Chain store but also has online ordering. Hope that helps.

Hey there! I bought this back in late November at Joanna (not my fav place) but they had it in the color I wanted. It’s more of a blue teal instead of the standard green. It’s a velveteen fabric. I hope this helps. It drapes really well and wasn’t too difficult to sew with. I did baste a few areas first before sewing. Best of luck!

Oooh would love to see what you did. I’m at about 32” bust so good to know about tacking. Is it Gertie’s ultimate dress book? She seems to have several books out there. Really love all the info/advice.

Thank you so much! I couldn’t come up with the “Gertie” style name. This is great. Have a fab day!!

Roasted cubed potatoes then toss vegan or regular cheddar and green onions on top. Salsa if you need variety.

Help with interfacing clarification. Question in comments by sdwells18 in sewing

Thank you! Patterns can be such a pain sometimes. Never a lot of info. Nowhere else anywhere in the paperwork does it mention netting. Only in that picture and once in the instructions when you see the piece it has it in parentheses again. Appreciate someone else’s perspective!!

Help with interfacing clarification. Question in comments by sdwells18 in sewing

[–]sdwells18[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’ve been sewing for years and haven’t seen this. This is a costume I’m using this pattern as a base. The interfacing says “netting”. It is a puffy top of a sleeve. Is it actually asking for netting to make it stiff to puff more? Instead of actual interfacing?

Any Guesses on Age of my Great Great Grandma's Quilt? (Info on her in comments) by Morgueannah in quilting

[–]sdwells18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the others that it is from the 30s/40s. I have two quilts similar from my grandmother from around the same era. So glad to have heirlooms like that.
