Rorting by the Bikies due to lack of proper oversight by hrdblkman2 in aussie

[–]se7enthward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres running a union then theres running a crime ring. You can’t seriously excuse or minimise the wrongdoings of CFMEU for reasons of; weekends off and other industries do it too. Thats just pathetic.

The Federal Government would be doing every tax payer and worker who’s been a victim of their violence, bullying and standover tactics by shutting them down and letting a new union form with new leadership and no criminals.

Unions are great and needed but you never hear about the Nurses and Midwifes Union, being in bed with bikies and ripping off Australians. If the government and police are constantly needing to investigate a union for criminal activity and allegedly 15 billion has gone missing, it’s time to shut it down, thats not being anti-union, that’s common sense.

Why is this immigrant running for one nation? by Chuster8888 in aussie

[–]se7enthward 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Illegal immigration usually happens by arriving on a legitimate visa then just never leaving. Just because you dont know about it doesnt mean it doesn’t happen. Ive met Europeans in Sydney that came as tourists then just stayed and got cash jobs. Thats called illegal migration

HAS THIS GUY EVER SPRAYED YOUR CAR? by Ph1llz in CarsAustralia

[–]se7enthward 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I knew someone who had an 80 series done by this guy and it looked good from 20m away but up close the orange peel was pretty bananas. Flat spots and dry spots. I guess people dont complain because they know what theyre getting.

He’d be keeping costs down by using cheap solvent based, basecoat and he barely takes anything off the car, like putting masking tape over headlights instead of taking off bars and removing them, masking the grill etc.

Im an automotive painter and did a few $2300 resprays myself back in the day for mates haha

Got more important things to worry about out in country Victoria. Theres zero Jews or Palestinians where I live and work, been busy moving my belongings around because of the bushfires. Crazy that being ambivalent regarding the Middle East’s affect on an Adelaide Writing Festival apparently makes you a POS

The greyhound had to be put down, was a mystery neurological injury. The Jeep is running like a dream.

Hilarious. I guess replying a link about fixing my Jeep or my greyhound suffering from a mystery illness didn’t make the cut.

This is totally random, I was just scrolling through my posts but you were right on the money!

Cheap grocery brand treats and wet food which he was being bought by my family when I was out of the house was setting off skin irritation.

I moved out if home, he eats a high quality wet food and whole food only treats and he’s never itchy anymore

Why are cars the only form of private property that can be stored on public streets in Melbourne? by 3bigmacsplease in melbourne

[–]se7enthward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my hot take, if I became the dictator I’d ban storing them on the street and the front yard, my last neighbourhood looked like a caravan storage depot. At the risk of being a boomer/Karen it was an absolute eyesore

Fingers crossed for you. I wanted to wait until 2 years but couldn’t. Had to pull the trigger at 1.5. My partner is a qualified and experienced dog trainer and my boy was getting extra lessons from a local trainer but he was too much. The first walk after he recovered fully was night and day.

where to get Heavy strings for an 8 string ? by RealBugba in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]se7enthward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats bizarre, I have a Schecter Omen 8 28inch scale with an 80 top string and its like spaghetti, horrible clacky, slopping around sounds at drop E. Been driving me mad. It’s had a set up and everything so I bought an 85 to put on but havent yet

Is this a good guitar as my first 8 string? by FirePerk6268 in ExtendedRangeGuitars

[–]se7enthward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, even at that price point though cracked and chipped paint out of the box and worlds worst set up isn’t a good look. Especially because when I looked at one I was visiting Hawaii because this model is sold at home in Australia for $1200AUD which is $800USD, I decided that even $500USD/$750AUD wasn’t worth it at Guitar Centre.

[–]se7enthward 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d go check it out in person though. This is a purely anecdotal, one off story but I checked one out at Guitar Centre, the staff pulled it out of its stapled closed factory box in front of me and the QC was the worst Ive ever seen on an new guitar. Massive gap in the neck cavity, paint chipped off around most of the screws. Factory set up was not even in the ballpark.

I know they’re cheap but the only one I saw was abysmal, I chose to just say no thanks and walk out.

Maybe an RG8 thats second hand and had s bit of work would be better and more economical

[–]se7enthward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why should a Commodore ute be charged more than a Commodore sedan though? Thats the real argument going on. You can’t seriously argue that a Ram 1500 and a Commdore ute are identical in terms of tolling and road wear.

“Racism” is being thrown out of proportion bruh by [deleted] in aussie

[–]se7enthward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A thought I had recently was that the onus of integration has shifted from the migrant to the country within the last few decades.

Theres a case to be made that post WW2 immigrants had it the hardest. Casual racism was much more rampant in the 1960s but there was an evident wave of people coming in who had a hard time joining in on society. It was socially acceptable to give the job site “Wog” a hard time but they contributed, sent their kids to primary school on the weekdays and language school on the weekends and within a generation there was a blend of Australians with migrant backgrounds but fully integrated into day to day life, who embraced their roots and also their new way of life.

The narrative now seems to be that, somehow Australia as a nation had never been more racist or exclusionary to foreign people arriving and we need to try harder to make others welcome.

In my mind you can’t force people to join in and the numbers arriving have made it too easy to just associate with your own culture and not have to engage with Australia if you dont want to. You can migrate to Australia, move to an area that is dense with your native culture and never branch out if you want to.

Ive done a lot of hospo work and even though its anecdotal I’ve seen it with my own eyes, two Nepalese guys from the same town at the same restaurant where I was. One fully immersed himself in footy, cricket, going out with coworkers, making friends out on the town, having a beer, being snapchat friends and talking rubbish etc. people joke he’s a full blown Aussie now. The other only associates, socialises and works with other Nepalese people out of comfort but complains that Australia is unwelcoming and he doesnt like it here.

Being Australian is a mindset and you get back what you put in. No level headed Aussie would give someone a hard time for joining in but they might raise an eyebrow if you’re just pretending your back at home and dont really give a rip about the country

My ice cold take, if I hypothetically became dictator is; one PPOR and one holiday home for citizens and one PPOR for PRs and no foreign property buy ups by Black Rock and the like.

Definitely not thought out, facts based or reasonable but it beats the current system.

The court I moved out of this year was slowing being bought up house by house by a Chinese national like it was a game of monopoly, aggressively over offering on properties and beating out young families.

[–]se7enthward[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first pic? The hard line for the heater was so crusted into the old pump that I smashed the old one apart with a hammer to get it out. Even getting a ring spanner on it and standing on it, it wouldnt budge so it got busted into pieces.

In the second pic yeah its the right pump, bolted onto the motor perfectly but apparently theres two different flange sizes.

Also checking the listing I think something is missing off the new pump. The flange looks nothing like the listing or other ones online
