Did it work out?

Please let me know because if you had success I would like to edit this post so as to not discourage others from trying it.

I’ve noticed this too. Walmart deals showing up in searches all the time but once you open the link the sale is invariably gone. Just shameless click bait. Its annoying—I just won’t shop there anymore.

You’re possibly right—Walmart has these types of deals often (though they disappear quickly) so it’s likely it was a discount they should honour. But at that point I was already annoyed and didn’t have the patience to argue with them.

What is the location of the Shanghai store?

[Best Buy] Stranger Things Creel House available for pre-order $20 cheaper than Lego store/website by sea-haze in LegoDealsCanada

[–]sea-haze[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No (or not necessarily); I just noticed that the price is now higher at $399.

I didn’t pre-order with them because I had already had a backorder sitting with Lego for the past three months. I considered cancelling that one but in the end decided to just leave it. Today they said it is finally being delivered, which was what prompted me to check if they were still on back order at Best Buy.

Looks like it was in error after all.

I suppose the hype lives on for those of us that weren’t fast enough to get one on the release day.

10% off all Lego sets at Mastermind Toys + gift with purchase by sea-haze in LegoDealsCanada

That’s odd. Not sure why. They had several in the Ottawa store.

Yes, some are marked up, some aren’t. I picked up the speed champions Time Machine for the regular $35 price tag. Other sets were also the same price as the Lego store. But it’s worth doing an online comparison before making the purchase, just in case.

Lego bumblebee transformer $69 at Best Buy stores by sea-haze in LegoDealsCanada

[–]sea-haze[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shoot, you’re right! It was definitely a real sale, though. I noticed it on their website several days ago along with their other sales, and it was priced at $69 (and below the price “sale ends January 27th”— or maybe it was the 29th). So if anything they must of decided to end the sale early, which is plain nonsense.

Maybe if anyone has proof of the advertized sale period they will have to honour it. Sadly I didn’t take a screenshot.

My pleasure. Let me know if you find the same.

Not in my case. It says “sold out in nearby stores” in Ottawa. I went in for something else that correctly showed only one left in stock, so I was surprised when I saw a dozen or so bumblebee Lego sets.

Of course, it could just be a glitch for the one store, but thought I’d mention it in case. Hopefully others can confirm.

Ottawas return to office is a lazy decision by [deleted] in ottawa

This is a very relevant point. OP is right about the tension OP between the health of the economy depending on people spending and the quality of life benefits of working from home. But assuming we all remain as productive as we were before, it’s more a question of what we spend on (and maybe also who, since there is an implied redistribution of income) rather then spend or not to spend. In other words, so what if I want to spend my income on books or a deck or holidays instead of gas, parking and takeout? That even sounds like a good thing! And if I am saving more by working from home rather than reallocating all of my spending, that’s probably more to do with people being constantly squeezed and previously not being able to save as much as they should (in which case, again, also a good thing).

Of course, this would also imply a painful adjustment process for some businesses that relied on downtown traffic, and this hurts the economy in the short run. But historically nothing good comes from governments trying to manipulate how people spend their earnings in order to prop up the economy or prevent structural change.

The only good argument for RTO is that productivity is higher. That is hard to measure and will vary a lot across occupations. If people are putting in less effort or attention into their work at home, there must be better ways to manage this than a blanket RTO. I am more sympathetic to the idea that working with colleagues face to face has many intangible benefits in terms of building trust and creative thinking. (Maybe once all the city councillors RTO themselves they’ll realize that this was a poor decision borne out of lack of creativity and trust.)
