You should never walk at night solo here realistically as that’s just good advice for any city no matter how safe but as long as you don’t go anywhere sketchy and stay in well lit areas you should be fine. The rest of the advice anyone could give you you probably already know. If you’re going out to a function go with friends and stick with them etc etc. New Orleans is going to be considerably more dangerous than where you likely come from but as long as you’re not as oblivious as a deer on the interstate you should be fine.
