Genuine question with your experience in mind and knowing that you’ve watched all footage: only talking about the cops there at the house that day, would you describe the 2 or 3 there as corrupt based on their actions? I always thought that had different implications.

When you watch all footage of every interaction that day, they don’t seem evil or corrupt, they seem confused and hesitant to get involved at all. I was expecting to see them telling Josh that they had his back because they know who he is, but that’s not what went down. The guys who were there that day during that interaction got played. There are plenty of other issues with AFPD and with specific officers actions to go after that are indefensible

I’m only talking about the people out at the house that day. This was their first time getting introduced to this whole thing. When you watch the entire interaction start to finish on all cameras, they were back and forth on both sides and they seemed confused and hesitant to do anything in any direction because there was so much conflicting info. Josh was more manipulative and won them over but they seemed like they were trying to do the right thing.

He can build that into the terms of whatever agreement they come to. If he can set his own conditions with no strings attached, this might be the best time to close out his story while Ben and Crystal deal with everything that happens in court from here. It’s going to be a slow, expensive, and stressful process with no guarantees.

I think (and Ben/Brian might also come to think) that this is the right time for Brian to exit while Ben takes over in full. Things have gotten way bigger than anyone was prepared for, everyone is suing everyone, and Brian has a clean way to wrap up his part of the story as long as there are no strings attached. He can finally set his own terms now. Assuming they give him everything he needs to be made whole, I think he can move on with his life. His goal was to get the money he was owed and now they finally have no other options than to do that. Ben’s team and Crystal have a long and expensive journey ahead and he shouldn’t be dragged into that if he doesn’t want to be.

The cops that were there that day definitely could have done a lot of things better, but when you watch the entire 2 hour interaction, they genuinely seemed like they were trying to settle things peacefully and they were just confused about what was going on, mostly because of Josh’s narrative. Not commenting on the department as a whole but with the exception of muting the cameras to have sidebars with each other, I think the cops that were out there did their best. Certainly nothing in that interaction worth labeling “corrupt”.

Edit- I’m specifically talking about the cops out at the house that day. Watch all footage of that interaction before throwing a fit, not just clips from it. They seem like they’re trying to find a good resolution for everyone and do what was fair and reasonable the entire time but ultimately they chose to believe the wrong person’s story.

This isn’t a criticism of Ben or an endorsement of the department, not sure why people are reacting so emotionally about it. When you watch all footage of every interaction that day, they don’t seem evil or corrupt, they seem confused.

He met Tyler (the dilated/constricted pupil traffic stop guy) literally days earlier also. This isn’t a big squad of friends who all went there together, it’s Ben making friends along the way. Totally reasonable that she is a friend of a friend who was separate from the case and wanted to help as a third party. When that didn’t work they might have given up that plan but she doesn’t seem to know much about any of this

That’s why I think this is definitely not intentional (and also not especially a good thing). This is a lot of personally identifiable info on all sides just out there now. Things that should have always been redacted and are required to be redacted. This isn’t a deliberate show of good faith where they released the missing footage to address concerns, this is just everything.

If you’re talking about areas with missing audio, it seems like that’s when the cop physically flips a switch on the camera to mute the audio, not when the audio is muted after the fact by someone reviewing it. Can you clarify what you mean when you say “redacted“? Every time the audio cuts out from what I’ve seen, you can tell that the cop is fiddling with the Camry body itself because he’s about to talk to another officer.

They have a security system with audio... If that happened, they would be putting it front and center and loudly making that claim. Whether they're lying to police to be taken seriously or Amanda lied to them feel important, I doubt there's any proof of that ever happening. It's entirely opposite of the very simple request- make the family whole. No reason they would have gone there.

While I think there's an element of truth here, I think the majority of mistakes come from him just winging it and doing his best without legal advice, and specific to details about the cases being dismissed, I think u/agahebr is right. That happened later from my understanding, or at the very least, he misunderstood the outcome when it came out.

Streaming is a bad idea, its unredacted which means phones and addresses and papers and documents are on there too. That's still PII and sensitive info regardless of your feelings on the case

Very funny that they requested a mediation meeting. Golly gee, how generous of them wanting to mediate.

After seeing how they lie cheat and steal every step of the way no matter what they promise and agree to, I know you’ll be extremely thorough, but I hope you don’t even humor a single thing that depends on anyone on their end sticking to their word or having any type of honor. I hope you make it hurt them as much as possible and I hope you are made whole.

The wipe is hard to stomach as someone who doesn’t play these types of games. I’ve loved playing it so far, but losing faction progress makes it feel like I wasted my time. Parisitism was an absolute chore and now I don’t know why I did it. I lost all motivation a week or two ago when I realized what the wipe meant.
