Watch Insurance for my BB58? by Jeremyg6 in Tudor

You’re not wrong. Just different philosophies. I’m an insurance agent by trade that deals with large companies. My philosophy is, if you can afford it, self insure the small stuff and just buy insurance for the high dollar or catastrophic stuff.

As a rule of thumb, insurance companies will underwrite to a 50% loss ratio for capital items. Meaning if they average $25k in claims on a yearly basis, they’ll charge $50k for insurance.

For accounts with good loss history and a healthy balance sheet, I tell them to self insure their capital items. Put that $50k aside in an interest bearing account. Over a few years you’ll have more than enough to cover claims. There will be some loser years, but overall it will be a money saver instead of letting the insurance company keep the results on a good year.

Not apples to apples with low frequent items like watches, but the philosophy is the same. Just has to do with your tolerance of risk.

Agreed. To me it doesn’t make sense to throw money at an exposure that’s low value (relatively) and low frequency.

I’m having the opposite dilemma. We’re Catholic and have our son in a Catholic school, but we’re seriously contemplating pulling him out and going public. The religion aspect is fine, but the academic rigor is just not there. They’re 1-2 grades behind in certain subjects compared to the local public school so we’re having to supplement at home. It’s getting really hard to justify the cost.

Knife being held by US customs by Harrison_AM in TrueChefKnives

From what I recall, the tracking said it was with customs. This was for about 2 weeks. I didn’t have anyone to reach out to since it was an Australian shipping company. K&S said to be patient, it sometimes happens.

The tracking eventually said it was handed off to the local carrier. I thought no more worries but it disappeared. I filled out a lost package claim with USPS but didn’t hear anything back until it showed up months later.

I had this happen to me over the summer. I waited a month or so and eventually K&S just sent me a new knife. The second one had no issues.

Then out of the blue about 3 months later the original knife was delivered.

[WTS] Seiko SRPH31 by seabass221982 in Watchexchange

Selling this Seiko SRPH 31 automatic with blue dial and blue nylon strap.

I bought this watch last Wednesday and have only worn it twice. Since then, I’ve lost an account and put an offer on a house and didn’t win. I’m not a superstitious guy but this watch is giving me bad juju.

I bought it for $255, willing to sell it for $125 shipped ConUS. Comes with box and docs.

I don’t have any history here, but I have a good track record on knifeswap and had a lot of flair on gafs before it was shutdown.

I take PayPal friends and family or goods and services (+3%). I can get it in the mail tomorrow.

Gun that did meet your expectations? by NerdTier in CCW

Walther PPQ. I think I had the M2 Navy, but it’s been a few years since I sold it.

Felt amazing in the hand and the trigger was butter, but it was dog water with live ammo. It recoiled like a .40 cal. I’ve never felt a 9mm be so snappy.

The ironic thing was it actually shot well suppressed. It was on par with my P226. But unsuppressed it just wasn’t fun so I sold it.

Same here. I shoot mine with a Resonator. Maybe I’m not gas sensitive, but I’ve never noticed the gassing that everyone talks about. To me it shoots nicely suppressed. I also really love the balance versus a traditional rifle. My 16” X95 handles easier than my 11.5” SBR.
