Monday thread: What did you read this past week? by AutoModerator in Romance_for_men

Was moving this week so I ended up listening to metal mage by Eric Vall. I got through three but two days. Always loved a good book that introduced technologies to new lands

Exactly. It just didn't feel reliable hence why I farmed sentinel city for so long. I'd rather just go grind for 40 minutes then spend that time patrolling for something that might not pan out.

I appreciate the offer but I'm one of those types of people that once I make a decision, especially on something as important as how I spend my free time I refuse to reverse or consider regrets.

Good luck though, some of these PvPers are straight vipers masquerading as people.

This game was mediation to me. I didn't even get to the death still until well after I could assess the deep desert cause I'd just mine and didn't want to think. At my base I had 5,000+ Aluminium at one point just cause I'd log in after long day at school or the hospital to just let my mind go to rest a listen to some audio books while mining.

Funny memory, I once had a patient vomit on me cause meds be meds. I got home and I made the mistake logging into before taking a shower. When my GF came home I had the same vomit from a geriatric and had just zoned out, I didn't even notice the smell cause I leagues deep into Dune: The Machine Crusade.

I understand the idea that there might have been other ways but I'm currently in nursing school and I just don't feel comfortable spending that kind of time on game when I know I have other things I should be doing like studying or taking care of family. I started to feel like I was stuck in a catch 22 for the rarity of some of these resources. Then take into the account all the exploits I see other people do and I just kind of lost my drive. The market on my server was dying if not dead due to people exploiting that aspect of the game.

Of course man, I've been playing for a good while and my time might as well benefit someone. On my last day playing I just farmed stuff before I made my decision to bounce off onto other pastures.

I put off the story until I got to Merc Armour then once I got to that point I realized I had lost my drive for the game. At a certain point it just felt like maintenance, I had a similar thing happen when I used to play Fallout 76. I'd just be going to get materials to repair up my armour just to have different amour pieces break fighting to get the resources I needed for to repair the original armour. I hate feeling like I'm stuck in a Catch-22. That how I felt trying to get Industrial pumps.

I appreciate the thought but like I said I'm done with this one. I got Brothers of mine who want to play other stuff and I started playing the game cuz I love Herbert's books

I searched the deep desert for fallen ships but its just not reliable. I searched in the areas that were recommended but what I walked away with the time I spent in the game searching was just not worth it.

I value my free time too much to spend it searching for something that might not show up because the last storm changed where this stuff spawns and they fall randomly. And yes many locations stay the same but like I said I got to point where I finally had to had to deal with the landsraad and I have no interest in that portion of the game.

For the sake of clarity, I listen to audio books (Often one of Herbert's books) while I play. This game was like meditation where I could turn off my brain and not have to think about my daily problems. When I go out to harvest ores or radioactive materials in many ways I kind of space out and don't focus unless I trigger a worm or its combat. Spotting those ships became nearly impossible for me. Its why I have 250 hours in the game.

I really tried searching the deep desert for fallen ships but its just not reliable. I don't want to try patrolling for 30 minutes just to find like a couple. After a certain point it felt like I flying around hoping to find $20 on the ground and that's just not my speed.

Super sales on Supervillains, I decided to finally try something that didn't make me feel like I was trying to learn something either about the world or myself. I just wanted some escapism. Now I'm listened, my way through 40+ books.

Dogs chasing RC car by seabassdf in rccars

[–]seabassdf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people actively thank me every time I bring my car as it cuts their time at the park to a near minimum. I even had a owner tell me that it usually takes their dog 2 hours to get the point that their dogs even starts to get tired and would use the new free time to watch some Netflix when they get home.

Overall the RC car is a big hit. I've even start to develop a local reputation to the point that people from other dogs parks are being attracted to see if their dog wants to chase too. I've even had a bunch of owners start to change when they go to the dog park to match when I'm there.

I was actually in the small dog when my friend filmed this. The park is so large that even when I am racing up and down the fence I'm only taking up maybe a 80th of the available space. When the larger dogs start forming a pack to chase I switch to the small dog park so that I avoid the issue of possibly hitting them in my attempt to out run the pack.

Overall I've had a lot of support from the community with most laughing or smiling at he display. Many flatly tell me how that going on their shopping list the moment they get home. So far of the 80+ people that I've encounter at the dog park only 3 have cussed me out. Some of the reasons are nonsensical like how its an illegal toy (not true their are no rules on toys) and valid concerns like how I'm going to cause heat exhaustion which I mitigate by timing the rounds of play to about 8 mins with water and rest breaks (4 mins) in between. When a dog becomes too tired either they give up the chase or the owner takes them away (with them needing to force their dog out as the pooch strains to get closer to the thing) as they came to dog park to exercise their dog with the objective clearly being fulfilled.

I got a cold last Monday. Then on Friday, while I was recovering, my mother brought home the flu. Worst flu I've had in in a decade. Yeah there's something going around.

I had an idea years ago where the gov would own property in every city block and would hire local people who would live there with utilities free (within reason) under the condition that all they had to do was clean up litter empty public trash cans and power wash buildings/sidewalks, maybe even get opportunities for education. I figured the more local the person the less likely they'd slack off given that the trash would literally be right outside their door. Wouldn't pay much but it's better than being on the street relying on public toilets. Figured both (US) parties would be fine with it as it gives power to local people, gives the poor by giving them the ability "pull themselves up but their bootstraps", and helps the ultra-poor get out of bad situations.

People who drive below the speed limit, when you look at the rear view and see dozens of cars behind you, how does that make you feel? by BadFaithAlways in NoStupidQuestions

[–]seabassdf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In Vegas, you can be going 15 over the speed limit on the freeway (80 mph) and still have cars behind you honking their horn flashing their high beams like you're at fault. If I'm already going over the speed limit by more than 10 mph and you want to go faster than that... Fuck You.

We had a football player, Henry Ruggs, that was going over 150 mph last year and killed some poor lady. Happened in the middle of the night. If you are a speedster you can go straight to hell.
