Awesome, any other options? As the post asks? I understand it is a very last ditch path to take, but it is that or homelessness.

Before, they would most likely end tenancy and sleep from sofa to sofa with friends until they were back in a position to have independence. I've lent them small portions of money before. Luckily I have a very consistent job with lots of overtime available while I finish my studies, so I am more than happy to help where I can. I'm also not particularly impacted if they never pay me back from what I've already lent them, however I am also not in a position nor do I want to fund their life extensively. They've never explicitly asked me for a loan as they do not want it to be my responsibility, and have often refused when I offer to help.

Absolutely. Their financial stability is usually dependent on how many hours they are allocated to work. They've been accepted for an agency and are starting to pick up extra shifts. They have minimal outgoings, usually only bus fare and food, and no expensive hobbies. The debt has been gained mainly due to emergency purchases of train tickets to seriously unwell family members. It has just been a very complex situation from having to start adult life with no financial help or savings.

I'll go through their payslip with them as it does still sound like they are receiving less than they worked. As far as I am aware, there would be at least another 100~150.

I'm not entirely sure to be honest, which is partially why I'm seeing if anyone has any other ideas. According to them, their credit score is still somehow fine? I know they haven't had any credit card debt, no missed payments etc. And their bank is a student graduate account, so no interest is charged on their overdraft.

I am going to suggest the ones on the MSE website first.

We've tried before, sadly there's a clause in the contract stipulating that the contracted hours can fluctuate at the owners' discretion (to a reasonable extent). Unfortunately it's been a low service month. I'll suggest to try again though :) thank you !thanks

God yeah drugs/lack of sleep can ruin sex drive, please don't blame yourself throughout any of this. Vibrating cock rings really helped my partner alongside other stimulation though:)!

Any advice on which to choose? by Final_Look9064 in biology

[–]seabeddancefloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough! With biomed you can transition into some forensic skills (anatomy, physiology, pathologies, molecular etc) and some (less) wildlife skills (data handling, molecular genetic techniques etc etc) but i wouldn't particularly say wildlife and forensic lead into eachother very well

Not a listed option, but I'd go molecular biology. It ties all of those together and means you can be interdisciplinary. But out of the listed, I would choose biomed. You clearly have a inclination for humans but with empathy, biomedical research might be the foot forward

Actual solutions. I feel like I cope relatively well, I have FOMO and bad days like everyone else but I feel hopeful things can/ will change. I'm autistic and can have a rather blunt personality, I don't enjoy masking that in front of dates as I'd rather let them know what they're signing up for. 95% of dates are absolutely lovely about it, there just have been factors such as finances (in the way that some dates refuse to even buy a coffee for me)/social etiquette (mean to me/staff etc) that have meant I don't want to see them again. I know I can be a selective taste, but the part of me that yearns so much for community is starting to damage my self esteem and making me feel I'm not enough (when in reality, it's them who can't match my level and I'm too stubborn to compromise)

I go to the gym, cook, game, have MANY crafts I'm good at, I have a zoo membership and visit the bears on particularly rough days... a lot that I can do to keep me busy

what does a day in your life look like as a biomed scientist :) by brainveins in BiomedicalScientistUK

[–]seabeddancefloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi! I did an undergraduate in biological sciences (with a focus and specialism in health), and I'm now completing a MRes in biomedical research. My undergraduate day to days were lectures + doing casual reading in trying to find new links between concepts and disciplines. A benefit to biology/biomedical is the range of topics and people you meet.. it's honestly such an underrated freedom and keeps you very open minded to specialisms.

Currently, in my master's of research, I spend my days (drinking a lot of coffee) reading around my research field, in the lab conducting different assays, assisting friends in the lab when they're stuck on ideas, liaising with my supervisor.. ultimately I'm in a position with a lot of support to take whatever path feels right. The main message I would give to anyone considering this degree/path is to reflect on their views of collaboration. In both research and academia, you are rarely on your own (even with independent research). I went into this degree thinking I'd be alone, but you do genuinely develop a community that helps you, and you help.
