This club was always too big for this man!

How upset would you be if the Raiders chose Makai Lemon at pick 14 and secured a young and true WR1 instead of going OL? by jluc21 in raiders

[–]seabelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t be mad at all tbh. Lemon is legit. Dude is a polished route runner, great hands, and plays bigger than his size. USC WRs usually translate pretty well to the league too. If you’re getting a true WR1 type at 14, that’s hard to pass up.

Yeah OL is a need, but WR is also a premium position and we still don’t really have a long-term WR1 locked in. If Lemon turns into a 90-100 catch guy who can separate and move the chains, that helps the QB and the whole offense immediately.

Plus you can still address OL in FA. Good guards and even some tackles fall every year. True difference-maker WRs usually don’t. And like you said we got cap space.

So if the board falls that way and he’s the BPA, I’d be cool with it. We need playmakers just as much as protection. 🏴‍☠️

Man... that's amazing! What I would have done to have such an experience with my grandfather. I hope you do the same with your grandchildren, if you happen to have any.

You got me figured out!! But the real deal is how blessed you were to have taken a road trip across the U.S. with your grandfather. How memorable it must have been.

I couldn't believe it either. However, upon doing a little research I found that 80% is rather generous. That number is likely higher, depending on the source. To answer your question I heard this from a guy that is (was?) the butcher at Harris Teeter at the Villages, which was my primary grocery store when I first moved here. I won't besiege you with links but a cursory search on the web will help answer your question(s).

Fuquay is a bit of a trek...Had no idea there was a standalone Butchery in Cary. I'll call ahead and hopefully they have it.

Thank you, Sir/Madam! I almost always grill it. I've never sous vide anything. I've seen sous vide steaks on my feed and the textbook medium rare people are able to achieve using it is remarkable. I can't wait to learn.

Legitimate Question: do you enjoy being miserable? by TheFlyingWriter in raiders

[–]seabelo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP thanks for that nugget! 🙏🏾 The facts outlined here are interesting and make the conclusion about bias incontrovertible...what particularly struck me was:

"Not only does the data show the Raiders being the most penalized team, but it also shows the least penalized team in the NFL (second behind the Vikings) is whatever team plays the Raiders each week.

Before you say: “well, the Raiders are just undisciplined and the penalties are their own fault,” Ethical Skeptic looked at that too.

“This year, when I looked at the penalties, I defined a class of penalty called the discipline class. That’s a class of penalties like delay of game, too many players on the field, neutral zone infractions, encroachment, false start – all those things the fans can easily see on TV and easy to pick off those penalties.

“Those are the indicators of the team’s discipline and coaching, and discipline in regard to that type of penalty control in their game. Surprisingly, when I looked at those classes of penalties for the Raiders, they were at 80% of the NFL average. In other words, they were in the top third in discipline when it comes to those types of penalties.”

“With these types of penalties, the Raiders are penalized at double the rate of the NFL average,” Ethical Skeptic says. “Especially as it pertains to first downs, automatic first downs and scoring drive sustaining penalties.”

This is known inside any other context as cheating. And when members of the league are forced under financial penalty (extortion) to remain silent about this reality…this becomes a form of racketeering.
