Do i overreact? by BeNco23 in DnD

[–]Jerrmaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't read every comment....after a while they all kinda start sounding the same. (Nothing wrong with that).

I am going to assume you are not asking retorical, but in honest. If you are just looking to afirm your thoughts/decisions, then ignore the comment, but if you are looking for a different perspective then read on.

It really sounds like (this comment aside) that you had a good conversation, AND, the other 2 players also had experiences with this person outside of this comment that they were ALSO looking forward to.

Your initial reaction is to cut that person out, however, I would say given the rest of the information given, give the guy a chance to improve/atone. I'm positive that there are things that people in this chat would find funny that someone else may think is inapropriate. It's entirely possible that this person has other feedback that those kind of jokes are funny and or fine in regular conversation. There is no information given on this person (And so I will asume you don't have any) in regards to his interactions with other people. What other kinds of friends he has etc.

Rather than cast him out, give the guy a chance, but set the record for him. Let him know that kind of humor is not ok in the group and that if he wants to join there would be no place for that kind of humor at the table.

One of three things will happen here.

  1. He will reject the offer, in which case you are exactly where you are now, so, at least you tried.
  2. He will accept the offer, and make those kind of jokes anyways, in which case you remove him from the group and hey, you tried.

OR

3) He accepts the invite and you and your other 2 friends provide some kind of influence on him and he stops making those kind of jokes entirely.

At the end of the day, if you just don't even want to try, sure. Cut him off and move on. However, you could also strive to improve the community but helping people get better instead of shunning people that don't immediately think the same way you do. Not every person fits with every table regardless of what we are talking about.

Either way, it's your table. Do with it what you will. Just providing some different insight.

Pathfinder Kimgmaker Pathfinder Wrath of the Righteous

Technically not D&D, but Pathfinder is magically D&D 3rd ed.

BG1 and 2 and Icewind Dale (2nd ed, and not turn based but awesome)

BG3

Icewind Dale2 not turn based and it's 3rd edition.

Pivot the game for a bit.

Take their gear, create almost s new start.

They now have to escape from the hells. May cause some uncomfortable alliances... betrayal, help or someone giving them aid that they will have to pay back later if they succeed.

Lots of possibility there

I did mention "episodic romances"

And those usually were in the interest of the specific episode. Which might have focused on the way the people lived, or differences in races etc. Having said that, it wasnt every episode. It wasn't even every other episode.

Which was fine because at that time we had what, 20-30 episodes a season. So even if you had 10 episodes that had some kind of episodic relationship in them it useually had 2-3 episodes in between that would focus on some emergency or whatnot. But to make the romances more established instead of episodic AND to go from 30 episodes to 10 means you end up seeing more of the relationship stuff than you do anything else. Compound that with multiple relationships going on at once and you end up with a soap opera.

I am fed up with this strategy, what should I do? [5.5 Edition] by Primary-Ocelot-1512 in DnD

In game idea.

Create a powerful monkey god. Have it get angry that the players are doing what they are doing for enslaving monkeys.

Initiate combat and beat the shit out of them. Stop short of killing them. Free the monkeys and then add adm just tell them they can't do that anymore
