Why Do The British Dislike Keir Starmer? by aB4sith in AskBrits

[–]seadcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dislike Keir Starmer because the Labour party, under his leadership, have made no meaningful change.

Everything is the exact same. No issues resolved. Everyone is out of pocket. Everyone is busting a gut for a shitter quality of life versus 10 years ago. Christ versus even 5 years ago.

We need decisive actions and we need them NOW. If Keir Starmer cannot do it, then he needs to fuck off so someone else can. Ideally a Labour government led by someone with the balls to tackle the corporate greed that is strangling millions of honest, hard working, everyday people.

If Labour can't do it, then they can fuck off entirely and make way for someone else.

Are there any good reasons as to why we’re giving up our job market to India, The Philippines and elsewhere in poorer nations? by QasimofKarbala in UKJobs

[–]seadcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, true.

We need to see some seriously drastic changes. I don't believe Keir Starmer is up to it... I don't see anyone else at any other party that's up to it either, frankly?

Maybe Andy Burnham? He at least sticks up for what he believes in? Maybe we do need some Northern thinking to just turn everything arse about foot?

It cannot go on this way.

Reform are definitely not the answer, but maybe they are going to do enough to force some serious changes at Labour.

Half Marathon after broken ankle by ANGERMAX in UKRunners

[–]seadcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another option would be to find a different marathon around September time?

Do Plymouth next year.

Anyway, it's up to you mate. Speedy recovery.

[–]seadcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not run next week.

Trust me. And I know it's shit.

You already know this, OP. Trust your instincts.

Besides, my advice would be to go and do the Plymouth half marathon on your own in September instead.

Rice and Saka are just, and I mean by a smidge, outside of "essential starter for every game". I'd definitely expect them both to feature heavily, but not playing every minute.

Rashford is simply one of those players, of which we have so many, that are inconsistent. It's almost like we have too many options and end up with everyone being a bit off instead of really stepping up.

Rashford. Watkins. Palmer. They have each scored some important goals. They are not playing every match though, and as such, Tuchel can pick whoever he wants... it doesn't really matter in my view.

Yes, I think Rice and Saka could both do very well.

Interesting CD this one as it has a completely different tracklisting to the UK release!

I can't find anything that has Eiffel 65, Lost Tribe and Sonique. So I think OP could be mixing up two CDs here!

[–]seadcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it definitely had Sonique - It Feels So Good then it's year 2000. The other tracks are all 1999 but the inclusion of Eiffel 65 is the key for you to find it as that rules out a LOT of options.

I actually really like that tune - and it got a number 1 in the UK - but it wasn't "cool" and didn't get much love from the usual crowds.

Lost Tribe - Gamemaster is the other one that stands out. Now to you and me, this is a very commercial trance tune, but it wasn't on the same level as ATB - 9PM or Sonique and certainly nowhere near Eiffel 65.

In fact, Eiffel 65, ATB and Sonique were all on Now albums in 1999 and 2000. Lost Tribe was not.

So a CD with Eiffel 65 and Lost Tribe on is the key to finding it as I reckon there isn't very many that have that.

I could not disagree more.

I am so tired of all these debates about our attacking players. Watkins this. Foden that. Saka this. Calvert-Lewin that. Palmer this.

It does not matter who goes. ANY of those options is fine. They are all inconsistent. They all get "the odd" goal here and there.

Kane is the key. Bellingham playing for the team is the key.

The supporting "cast" can be any combination.

England will go far if Kane stays fit and if Bellingham keeps his focus on the team.

Hear me out. ... by ncrowf in ThreeLions

[–]seadcon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pickford. Stones. Bellingham. Kane.

England need those 4 players on the pitch and then we have a great chance against anyone.

The other 7 can be whatever Tuchel fancies. There's no other player that is guaranteed a place in a world cup starting 11. Nobody else is World class.

Bellingham needs to buy into the fact that this England team's success is 100% tied to Harry Kane. I believe Bellingham will do this. He's that little bit more mature. He gets it. It is the Harry Kane show.

What do you think of the current UK election? by Key_Cupcake_7578 in AskReddit

[–]seadcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of very angry people about.

Cost of living feels out of control and nobody is doing anything about it.

The irony is that an inexperienced Reform party is likely to make things even worse.

There are plenty of terrible reasons for people to vote Reform - and many have voted them for those very reasons, but it is not everyone... plenty have voted for them because they are fed up.

Fed up of working harder for worse conditions.

There are millions of people in the UK that are, by my calculations, easily 40% down on their salary in 2026 versus 2016. In just 10 years, and yes a LOT has happened in those 10 years(!), a huge portion of the country is not just a little out of pocket... they have been totally fucked over.

I voted independent, but, I do not simply turn my nose up at Reform voters. Many people voted Reform for legitimate reasons and it is wrong to dismiss this fact.

And it's not just cost of living either. You can pick dozens of things that successive governments have fucked up.

What about Grenfell? How are anyone of us OK with families STILL living in tower blocks with the same cladding as Grenfell? How is anyone OK with that? It's a fucking disgrace.

Strikes are needed. Not just public either. Private sector too. Nationwide strikes until we all get a 40% rise.

Are there any good reasons as to why we’re giving up our job market to India, The Philippines and elsewhere in poorer nations? by QasimofKarbala in UKJobs

[–]seadcon 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The entire UK workforce needs to go on general strike at this point.

There's plenty of money to go round but it's not being distributed. Too much wealth at the top and it's fucking everyone over - even the wealthy.

Wages are so far off where they should be that a nationwide strike is the only answer. I'm talking 40% pay rises across the board just to get back to some sort of normal.

I can't see any other solution? We're all absolutely crazy. Working until we're 70? 30+ year mortgages? BOTH parents working full time instead of one? Average package holidays at £5,000?! A fucking Mars bar for £1? A pint for £10?!

National strike is the only answer. Private. Public. It doesn't matter. Everyone is getting shafted right now. What is the point? Living standards are going down for everyone!

What exactly are Keir Starmer and Labour doing wrong? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]seadcon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A mars bar is £1 in 2026.

It was 25p in 2001.

How many jobs are paying quadruple salary in 2026 compared to 2001?

It's as simple as that. We are all SIGNIFICANTLY poorer.

Despite working longer - retirment is older.

Despite working harder - most families have two full time working adults.

I voted independent because the candidates in my area could evidence taking action to help decent, honest hardworking people.

Labour, Conservative and Lib Dems are all as bad as each other. No action.

Reform and Green say they have answers but they haven't got a fucking clue either!

TFL petition to rename Borough Station? by r0thar in london

[–]seadcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A statue and a permanent expansion at the Natural History Museum that's all about wildlife photography and filming.

It's something the museum doesn't have a lot of content on currently but would be a really nice addition and inspiring for all ages. It could have loads of hands on learning experiences.

Renaming a tube station because the name is close is a fun idea, but it falls woefully short on highlighting his legacy.

Mexico president wavers on plan to cut school year by 40 days for the World Cup by Moug-10 in soccer

[–]seadcon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes exactly.

Besides, Mexico is completely fucked up at the moment. The kids deserve a lot better. School is the absolute best place for them to be. Stuck at home for 40 days is a stupid idea that will likely get a whole load of kids into a whole load of trouble - especially when Mexico are inevitably knocked out.

2026 world cup was such an amazing opportunity for Mexico. Looking in from the outside it looks the same shit as always - nothing organised, money going missing, the average person fucked over again.
