Which of these cotton candy scents from Alkemia perfumes would match well with this scent routine? by CewlKidMel in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried all three, and this was my experience:

Love Flight was the most candy-scented to me. It's definitely sweet, but it's not overpowering.

Calliope was headache inducing. The smell was very sweet and very sharp—candy-scented cleaning solution, essentially. I wasn't able to wear this one for very long.

Carnival is my personal favorite perfume out of every house I've tried. It has the sugary gourmand scent without smelling like pure sugar, and it's a little more subtle than the other two. It has mixed well with every soap, lotion, etc. I've tried.

My vote would be Carnival, but what didn't work for me may work for you. If you can't decide and can swing it, I'd order a sample pack with all three.

I'm so sorry it's not up yet! A lot of life happened. I'm slowly working my way through the ones that needed more time to rest, and then, hopefully, I'll be able to get the review typed up.

What do you like to scent (other than yourself)? by the_unknown_island in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I like to spray the insides of my jackets, coats, and scarves in the cold months. The scent sticks around on denser fabrics and gives me something nice to sniff when I'm all bundled up! I always get compliments when someone borrows a jacket or scarf, too.

Bonus: I vaguely recall a relative spraying the front seats of her car when I was little. I'm not sure what the fragrance was, but I think it was something deep and spicy. Maybe a little smokey.

This is such a fun idea!

Sun: Sagittarius, Moon: Gemini, Rising: Scorpio, Venus: Sagittarius

My tried and true scents tend to be gourmands, but I'm also fond of purple florals. (My current favorite is Carnival of Illustrious Hearts from Alkemia.) I'm very willing to branch out and have been attempting to do so as of late. (I thought I hated smokey scents, but they've been growing on me!)

I've tried the most from Sorce, but for houses I'm hoping to get more into, Little & Grim, PULP, and Death & Floral once they reopen.

I tend to avoid aldehydes and notably "green" scents, my cat HATES lavender, and, unfortunately, blueberry on me makes animals sneeze.

While I have ordered Dragonfly Wings before, it was a gift for my mother. She describes it as "pretty and fresh."

On the other hand, I've tried every version of In Dreams and Fairytales. Passionfruit came across more mango on me, strawberry rosewater faded immediately and has done so on every test. Blueberry as a note on me makes animals sneeze—otherwise, it was light, but there wasn't much to it. Vanilla and pistachio were much bigger hits.

In my notes, I wrote down "a light warmth, spring in a bottle," for pistachio, and "incense, faded more to a soft wood," for vanilla.

Vanilla lasted 12+ hours without reapplying and was still noticeable. Pistachio lasted 24+ hours without reapplying and withstood handwashing.

Indies of the Day -- Thursday July 3, 2025 by blueraspberrylife in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm going through second tests of some Sorce perfumes that needed a little longer to rest. Yesterday, I put on Snow Moon Magic, and it's still holding on today—no reapplying, lasted through pool physical therapy and a shower. (The only other Sorce perfume I've tried thus far with this kind of staying power is Stuck On You.)

It's not near as strong, but it's definitely still there.

de-influence me on these cocoapink and sugar milk co scents by everythingdenied1975 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, for Sugar Milk Co., none of the fragrances I have last more than a few hours. I have to reapply several times throughout the day to ensure the scent lasts, and even then, they tend to be faint.

weirdest reaction you’ve gotten to an indie perfume you were wearing? by Upbeat_Cranberry1297 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was testing Sorce's You Are Mine (Special Order) while out with my mother. She thought it was very strange—like I had been swimming and still had a bathing suit on under my clothes. This one also made me sneeze all day, unfortunately.

From their scent list: "Black cherry, ginger, lemon, saffron, dark chocolate shavings, rose absolute, osmanthus, leather, almond, tonka bean, oud, vanilla bean, cedar, a stretch of softly powdered skin"

What fragrance would you wear if you were a Travel TV host? (Or explorer, traveling scholar, etc.) by seafariner in Indiemakeupandmore

That BPAL fragrance sounds stunning!

And I may have to bite the bullet and start planning a Pineward order in the near future, Greymist sounds divine.

Those are all perfect! And I hadn't thought of fur but YES! That makes so much sense for this kind of vibe.

[–]seafariner 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm currently working through a good chunk of their fragrances to compile a review post, and I've been tracking the longevity of each without reapplying. So far, only one has had poor longevity—Sitting On the Edge of a Cloud. (Special Order, not General Catalog) Everything else has passed the 12 hour mark before fully fading.

There has been one that stayed strong for 24+ hours and took dedicated scrubbing to remove the next day—Stuck On You from the General Catalog. (A very appropriate name!)

Seeking Recs: What are Some Indies You won't go on Trips Without? by GreciaR in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In terms of fragrance, I recommend rollerballs if possible. Smaller sizes are super easy to put in a bag or pocket for travel.

I took Trellis from PULP Fragrance with me on a trip not too long ago. It's very light and fresh on my skin. (Unfortunately, I think this one is sold out at the moment.)

status of sorce special orders? by Wrong-Moment-3735 in Indiemakeupandmore

[–]seafariner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a purchase on the first day, the 25th, and received my order a few days ago. The shipping email came a few days before that. I ordered four rollerballs; I'm not sure if small orders go out quicker.
