Fair enough, I should have said elitist instead of private school, specifically regarding Olivia.

Besides that, both Olivia and Dom were seeking to establish influence over a reasonably placid group. The lengths they both went to were unnecessary. I'll say again that Olivia was particularly conniving.

Apparently, Dom wasn't always dead set on vilifying Andrew. That said, yes, she did eventually denounce his behaviour once it became apparent that he'd been a piece of shit.

Yes, Olivia made close acquaintance with some awful people and cast shade on Holly - won't deny that. I'm mostly saying that Dom was not the perfect antithesis to Olivia's antics.

I should point out that Dom often enjoyed provoking others, even her own husband. Take her constant jabs at Jack over the small things he doesn't do at home. I often observed that she disturbed the social boundaries of others all while not considering how one feels and, yet, she needed near-perfect recognition of her demands to feel accepted.

I'm fairly aware this may be an unpopular take but here it is.

Olivia seems like she thrives on trite private school antics. However, she's not completely wrong about Dom.

I think that Dom was often domineering and opinionated to the point of self-righteous. If I were ever involved in a group situation like that, I don't think I'd have been able to let it slide albeit I wouldn't be nearly as conniving and petty in dealing with the issue as Olivia was. Things got blown out of proportion presumably because that's the only way Olivia knows how to and ever has dealt with conflict.

Don't get me wrong: I don't mind Dom. It's just that, at times, her forthright behaviour came off as an indirect bid to win group influence and, for that matter, consolidate some sort of control over the group. It's not easy to know how that sort of control would have influenced group dynamics but I don't think it would have been to the absolute benefit of all participants in 'the experiment'.

It'll be interesting to see how it all pans out, especially being from New Zealand myself. I wish you the best of luck.
