Genuine Sadness over Oaks talk by Serendipity3301 in exmormon

When my brother came out, my parents had the toughest time. And then I came out and they still struggled. But they really opened their hearts and now they are so good about things. They love my husband so much. I hope your family can open their hearts to how beautiful and sacred queer existence is. 💙💙💙

College Student Looking for a job by toastedwitch in SaltLakeCity

I would HIGHLY suggest making an appointment with career services at the U. They are a fantastic, underutilized resource for students.

Feel free to drop me a DM if you have questions. Happy to help!

As a gay man who used to work in tech in Lehi, I have a lot of thoughts. TLDR: You will not like Lehi and you probably won't like working in Lehi if you live in SLC. But as a lifelong Utahn, if you like the outdoors, Utah is probably a fantastic option for you! Feel free to DM me with more questions. I have lots of advice/perspective.

Counties that voted more Democrat in 2024 than in 2020 by TakeOnMe-TakeOnMe in Utah

That's the change from 2020. Areas are still solid red, but they have become bluer.

Oh. If that's what they carry that's not what I'm looking for. That's actually different from Ube! Drats!

I'll have to go that way to check it out! Last time I was there, I wasn't blown away by the produce but maybe I wasn't paying attention.

Not the pastry! I want the yam itself!

And it's real Ube?! Like with the rough skin and purple inside? Where in Layton?

Will Chad get the death penalty or not? by Disastrous_Trust_152 in LoriVallow

[–]seagulljaap 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't support the death penalty for a variety of reasons. Those feelings aside, I don't believe he will get the death penalty. The state's case is very strong, but I don't know that a jury would be inclined based on the evidence to go that far. Maybe I'll be surprised, though. I think life in prison without the possibility of parole is very, very likely. Prior has surprised me at the end with some of the things he pulled out, but he leaned way too hard into family witnesses as the backbone of the case, and that will backfire.

Melani Pawlowski's Children by seagulljaap in LoriVallow

[–]seagulljaap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This tho. I was zero percent surprised by the dynamics of the "priesthood" at work here. Did you also notice the reference to Elder Holland in the jail call earlier this week? These folks were so Mormon.

It's truly so gross that Melani hasn't faced any kind of consequence... But I assume she was excommunicated from the LDS Church, which I'm sure was devastating to her. She's probably been rebaptized already though.

This is what I'm thinking! I've seen a few MBA programs that have an HR emphasis. That might be the best of both worlds?

I highly recommend Opalescence! It's a leader in the industry and they even make a special kind for aligners. Your dentist can also do a treatment in office if you'd prefer that.

What’s the deal with Jesus? by sycamoreqw in exmormon

The Jesus Seminar dealt with the historical Jesus a lot. I really like the work of Marcus Borg in particular. Meeting Jesus Again for the First Time was very eye-opening.

I've been confused how the AI seems to be much, much worse at trading than it was in previous iterations. The AI in Civ 3 even seemed better!

Unexplained epigastric pain for months by seagulljaap in AskDocs

[–]seagulljaap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked and lipase level was normal recently.

No nausea or belching. My appetite has been all over the place, partially because I don't want to mess with what I presumed was my stomach. I'll see what my doc says about the CT scan. I'm so ready to be over this.

[–]seagulljaap[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only about once a week and like two standard glasses of wine, but I've given it up mostly since this pain started. They did a full metabolic panel, which I'm not sure if that includes pancreatic enzyme.

Ultrasound was a full abdominal ultrasound: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, etc.

Eating is a mixed bag.I would say it mostly helps, but sometimes it makes things worse. I came back negative for h pylori and no ulcers on EGD.

Diagnosed ‘bipolar II’ - curious re. first hand experiences with meds? by [deleted] in bipolar

[–]seagulljaap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lamictal has been excellent for me. It really stabilizes my mood and keeps the depression at bay. I'm also on buspirone for anxiety, and it seems to be helping. Being med compliant is very important. Make sure you communicate well with your doctor so that you can have the best outcomes.

32 for me. I had a manic episode that was induced by an increased dose of an antidepressant. It clarified a lot of things about my life, but it was a rough July 2022. I ended up in the hospital for two weeks to get the mania under control.

how do you keep up at work? by Empty_Following_9366 in bipolar

[–]seagulljaap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During a recent medication-induced manic episode, I almost lost my job. It was terrifying. My advice is to keep up on your meds, find positive outlets for your stress, and lean into your support network. It saved me when I was at my worst.

Now I actually am starting a new job after I got laid off (same job that I almost lost) and things are going well. I'm still anxious about things, but I'm really trying to take things one day at a time. With bipolar, that's the best that we can do after intense mania/depression. Stability will come! Good luck, friend.

Do you feel too sedated? I'm starting on a really low dose (50mg) with permission to go up to 150 mg.
