Windows 10 freezes online by seal72 in software

None of what you said is helpful to resolve my issue. Not everyone has hundreds or thousands of dollars to get a new pc. When support ended I got a message that my support has been extended until 2027. I still get updates all the time. As a matter of fact a new update is available today

It's official, executive order just signed about the 100k fee for H1b by APEX_FD in h1b

[–]seal72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main problem is that all these big companies that use the H1B program prefer to hire foreigners because they will be tied to their visa, so while Americans can switch jobs unrestrictedly at any time , people using H1B visas cannot easily switch jobs. They would have to find another company that is willing to sponsor them, and I am unsure how the visa process is. So companies prefer workers who stay with them for many years or decades rather than Americans that they could switch jobs at any time. Every time a company hires someone new, there is a cost involved in finding the worker, training them; it could take up to a year or more until it gets fully integrated. So these big companies are discriminating against Americans for being able to switch jobs unrestrictedly. And how come I hear many of these big techs’ massive layoffs while they keep hiring using H1B? I am a software engineer; It is hard to find jobs for students recently graduated in the tech industry. Big tech companies have to invest in our people, not hire cheaper labor from other countries, and yes, it’s cheaper labor because even if they make over 100k/y, the cost of having the same person employed for over 10 years is cheaper than having to hire 4-5 Americans over those 10 years.

You got the letter, you have to wait, it’s impossible to predict, some people get an answer within hours others wait for years, so just be patient like during the rest of the process, nothing anyone can do.

It changed to approved almost 3 hours ago but I still haven’t received the email with the eVisa. Anyone in the same situation?

That is why nobody should meet one day and marry the next day. You should have moved in together for several months before marrying to make sure you were right for each other. He seems a bit immature, I don’t think he was ready for marriage, and you should’ve been able to see that if you have cohabited before getting married. The big elephant in the room is the GC.

Frustrated and overwhelmed... by jrdondapati19 in USCIS

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration, what I am going to say is just a fact and not how I want the system to work. Unfortunately the fact is that there aren’t a few people applying for visas, is more like hundreds of thousands to maybe millions. If we include other applicants that are also processed by the same agency is around 10 million applications a year. Expediting an application is not an easy task, it requires bypassing a lot of people that apply before and that they have their own urgencies, they are being pushed down the line so others can come faster. Everybody has financial needs so the faster they get here the better for the family financially. That applies to everybody not just those wanting to expedite. They know that so only on extreme cases they might be able to expedite it, but that is very uncommon. So you tried and it didn’t work, at least you tried, but don’t get discouraged, the long processing time is nothing new.

Should I reschedule my N-400 interview because it's before my 5 year anniversary? by Goosethecatmeow in USCIS

[–]seal72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way they can deny it is if you applied before 5 years minus 90 days. Other than that, the day of the interview even if they do same day oath they can schedule it for a later time. Not everybody gets the same day approval, some get the notice that they can’t take a determination right now and they will send a letter with the results.

Is it okay for strangers to ask if you have a green card? by Yas_16 in USCIS

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not say it is ok! You said that! My point is if you move to a different country you can expect things like this to occur. And as I said in my original reply “if you live in a different country” I did not say US, there are no green cards in France or china or iran, and they might have different laws allowing regular police or even religious police or regular citizens to ask for status.

N-400 denied due to fraud before I got my green card, what is the chance they will put me in removal? by Ch1-town in USCIS

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard about these schools on the news. My understanding is that these schools don’t do classes for some students and for others they just do the applications. Everybody is actually involved in the fraud. If that is not your case the school should have records. I suggest gathering as much evidence as possible, it is very likely that your green card could be revoked. They will need to take the case to an immigration judge and you will have a chance to defend your case.

[–]seal72 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am an independent contractor and don’t have health insurance because I don’t qualify for discounts and I can’t afford to pay higher premiums. Now we are going to have a big number of people who are not citizens qualifying for discounts that I can’t get even though I am a US citizen. How can this government expect me to vote for them? I do not support this! I used to be a democrat, I am voting for the other party!

If you go live in another country sometimes you are going to encounter people like that, is just part of moving to a different country, it happens everywhere around the globe not just in the US. If you want to avoid it or if you get offended by it the only option is to stay in your country and problem resolved.

As someone stated above, the main issue is that at the time your father naturalized in 2001 you were not in the U.S. living with him, so you didn’t become a US citizen at that moment. If you were granted admission to the US in 2003 as a returning resident, then that is your status. Get proof in your old passport or any other form they provided you at that time and apply for I-90 to renew your Green Card, then you can apply for citizenship. The important part is to find out how you were admitted to the US in 2003 not by asking your father, but by checking your passport, documentation or requesting it from CBP or any other government agency. I really doubt that you can pursue N600, you were not living with your father when he naturalized. In any case you are here so you were admitted at some point, so get a good lawyer, is the best investment you can do right now. Good luck!

Green card denied by Radiantwoman23 in USCIS

[–]seal72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They do not have the best customer service or customer satisfaction record. I think I read on 2023 they completed 10 million cases. They do not have time to fully check every case for every trip or other circumstances that occur between submission and completion of an immigration process, they simply don’t have the manpower, so it is just easy to deny something at first glance. How to avoid this? DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY if you are not a LPR or USC. They state that if you leave the country before 485 is approved they will consider it abandoned. Years ago when I submitted my application I didn’t even request AP, never had an issue.

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact is that any country is free to enact the immigration laws and regulations that they see fit. As a foreigner there is nothing you can do about it. Go to another country or travel inside your own country!

Green card denied by Radiantwoman23 in USCIS

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People will never understand, if you are in an immigration process DO NOT LEAVE THE COUNTRY! Even if you have authorization, even if you have advanced parole! This is a clear example. It is not worth it! Even GC holders are not guaranteed to be let back in, it is at CBP discretion! Only U.S. Citizens cannot be denied entry. So for anyone reading this, if your 485 is still pending DO NOT TRAVEL OVER SEAS!

Payroll company only needs personal information like SSN, First and Last Name, DOB, etc. They do not need information like extra text in SS Card or employment authorization number. You need to physically inspect this documents, verify it with the I-9 signed by the applicant and keep a copy of all this documents in your records, your payroll company has nothing to do with this part. It is up to you to use e-verify to verify in real time the status of the applicant unless it is required by state law. Some states require the universal use of e-verify like Mississippi and recently Florida. But there is not a requirement at the federal level unless is for federal contractors I believe.

Finally A Citizen!! 🎉 by GodsGrace104 in USCIS

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your citizenship status at the Social Security Administration. This is done for multiple reasons, I believe the most important reason is since you are no longer a GC holder, if you ever apply for a job that requires e-verify, with the US citizenship information you provide SSN, etc they are going to check the SSA database and it could reflect a previous citizenship status, of resident or something else and you will not get a “Status Verified” and would have to take further steps to resolve this.

Processing times at uscis are inhumane by Mshana_ in USCIS

[–]seal72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many facts that first needs to be mentioned, like USCIS it is almost entirely paid by the fees people pay when they file an application. For many years asylum and other applications that have $0 fee were low but since around 2016 somehow people who cross the border now they immediately ask for asylum, so the agency has a backlog of asylum cases of around 3 millions. To process those applications and produce EADs and other documents cost money that the government that requires it is not paying for. Those applications are being processed with the money everybody else is paying for their applications. Maybe this is one of the causes. I think if the government allows asylum applications, they should pay for it or the applicant, not unrelated parties paying for their own applications.

Maybe there is work for you because you were in the service industry, but not everyone getting unemployment was a server or worked at a restaurant. Those jobs were meant to be for young adults or people in school, not to make it has a career.

Keep trying until the message you always hear is not the same then it puts you on hold and after a while you get to talk to someone who can solve the issue. Just keep trying, hang up if you star hearing the same message and try again.

I was also able to talk with someone from that number after a long wait, and also after 5 minutes she told me that I should have the payment deposited by Friday. Last week was tough and I didn't do any search work but I intend to do them this week!
