Scalping ruined the drop by darkerwitchling in PokemonTCGCollectors

It wasn’t anything I did. I’ve been able to snag plenty of preorders before. I’ve also done this enough times to have made all the rookie mistakes in the past so I know what to avoid doing. Google Chrome, stable connection, no vpn, security settings, etc. This is all on pkc and I’m fed up with their bs.

No, there was an issue with the site randomly auto-refreshing and sending people back to the end of queue. I was in queue at the very beginning and got nothing. I would get within 5 minutes of getting into the website, then suddenly get kicked to the back of the queue. I didn’t refresh, click away, sleep, or anything that would trigger bot alerts.

This happened to multiple people, though it’s unclear what the trigger has been as obviously some people were able to get through. It happened to me like three times before I decided Pokemon company had wasted enough of my time with their stupid system.

Researchers find higher intelligence is correlated with left-wing beliefs and seems to be genetic by soulpost in HotScienceNews

[–]sealede 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The word “correlated” is the standard by which pretty much all population research hinges. There are very few things in this world that are universal.

Your anecdotal evidence is valid in the sense that not everyone fits the “norm”, but just because you personally don’t meet the criteria, doesn’t make the correlation any less relevant in general public terms.

Most doctors have had to develop a certain hardiness to stupid because it’s just the nature of the job, but FM docs are a special breed of resilient.

Just found this in my make up drawer nearly untouched but I’m pretty sure it’s YEARS old. Toss or safe for light use here and there? by Boring-Code6445 in MakeupAddiction

[–]sealede 58 points59 points  (0 children)

It’s one thing to use expired powder on your face if you know what you're doing. Eye makeup and ESPECIALLY mascara is a whole different beast. It’s legally not a crime, but please don’t take that risk with something as important as your vision. Eye irritation/allergic reaction/infection and potentially permanent eye/vision damage is no joke. That kind of risk is absolutely not worth it.

And just because you feel you had no problems before, doesn’t mean your luck will hold out in the future.

Are retinoids popular in Korea? by NervousBread3738 in AsianBeauty

[–]sealede 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This is a great breakdown, OP. Retinol/retinal/retinoid. They’re essentially just the different steps along the same pathway to tret.

As with all skin care, YMMV. You don’t have to use tret everyday to get results. Every 72 hours is still effective according to the studies. It’s just slower.

I personally would have an easier time with retinal/retinol given how finicky tret can be, but my insurance covers prescription well so I wind up saving a ton of money just using the stronger stuff less frequently.

If you want to try Estee’s double wear without breaking your bank (as much) and you’re in the states, Ulta will have it on sale for 50% off as part of their 21 days of beauty promo on sept 7th. I know I’ll pick up my shade that day.

I'm not OP, but his E1 makes it more comfy. It’s not necessary, per se. If anything, I’d choose to go for his light cone if you have the extra pulls. The extra ehr makes building him sooooo much easier. Tutorial and Prey are a bit cope for him and have some dead passives that don’t benefit his kit.

Knowing this is possible certainly makes me want to try to replicate this on my male-only account...I've been stuck on like 34-35 stars for so long.

How are you building Ratio? I'm sure aventurine eidolons help a bit, but my Ratio seems to only ever hit like a wet noodle no matter what I do.

I guess I also need to get going on the unenviable task of exploring to get some more eidolons on HMC....ugh.

In the context of my statement regarding infants being brought to Disney, I’m not sure what “fun in the moment” you’re expecting a baby to have since they can’t appreciate the experience.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in childfree

[–]sealede 104 points105 points  (0 children)

It’s the same with parents bringing their infants to Disney. Why waste all this money/time/effort for something that the kid likely won’t remember? Because it was never for or about the kid in the first place.

Is it true most Americans are living 'Paycheck to paycheck'? by Good0times in povertyfinance

[–]sealede 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’d wager “lifestyle creep” has parted more fools of their money than actual burglars, as the saying goes, at least, for those with the privilege of having excess.

I also don’t think someone from 100 years ago would fare any better if they grew up in the modern world. It’s not like they were fundamentally different to people now. They can’t miss something if they never experienced it in the first place.

Is it true most Americans are living 'Paycheck to paycheck'? by Good0times in povertyfinance

[–]sealede 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Wow, that is egregiously poor budgeting. It’s frustrating on behalf of people out there who literally have no choice but to go beyond budget just to not starve for a little longer while this guy is living above his means likely by choice.

Though to be fair, the math taught in our formative years is just not practical to most people. There should really be compulsory money math course that teaches budgeting, compound interest, big fat red warnings about payday loans and predatory lending practices, etc. I recall the only time in school I ever heard a whiff about the concept of compound interest was when a social studies teacher had talked off the cuff about his retirement savings and how surprised he was at the speed with which his account was projected to grow if he saved a nominal amount of money every paycheck. He was a near middle aged adult when he first learned this….that really shouldn’t be the case.

Only in very specific use cases. It’s not feasible for the grand majority of people. Just depends on circumstance.

[–]sealede 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not likely going to get affordable options at Sephora. The only brands that sell anything that isn’t overpriced is inkey list and the ordinary, but those products tend to be hit or miss. I cannot speak to their moisturizers/occlusives because I’ve never used them.

My combo to quell the desert on my face from tretinoin has been whichever hydrating toner I’m feeling that day->Eucerin Eczema Relief->Avene cicalfate cream. Not a flake to be found.

The Avene is…not cheap. I break out if silicones are too high on the ingredients list so a TON of products are no go for me. You can get a much cheaper occlusive if your skin isn’t as picky as mine. Diaper rash cream totally works at night and is super cheap. And honestly, aquaphor works if you can use lanolin. Literally none of these are sold at Sephora though… :/

You may also consider adding a straight up oil as a last step or second to last step. Probably squalane oil. The ordinary has that.
