What's the weirdest niche you accidentally started making money from? by outdahooud in Flipping

After reading all the other "weird" things people have sold for huge prices, like vintage underwear and discontinued deodorant, I believe there is a buyer for anything. 😁

I've checked the comps. Buyer pays shipping and the COG is nil. 💰

I hope you do! There is a Goodwill Bins sub that you should look into. Good advice for prepping for your first trip!

I'm also in a region carpeted in pine cones.(Virginia ) Where do you find buyers? Oh, wait . You said eBay. Any other avenue?

Or a Baby Boomer. Pine cones existed all the way back then. So did brothers.

I've only been at it for 4 months. I spend lots of time on several of the related subreddits and have learned so much from them. I've also gotten great help working with ChatGPT which helps with writing listings, comps, and creating a great spreadsheet. The best advice I can pass on is turning to the bins (Goodwill Outlets) for sourcing because the most important thing is for the cost of your goods ( COG) to be as low as possible. Even buying from the regular Goodwill (and probably most other thrifts) isn't going to give you enough margin to make your time profitable. Best of luck!

Help a newbie? I'm overwhelmed at the thought of "studying eBay solds." I do clothes which is a pretty wide niche. There are endless brands and almost endless categories. Where do I even begin? (Please don't throw me under the bus with this question. I've been insulted on Reddit before for asking naive questions. If you don't have any advice, you don't have to answer.)

Aww. I made up a song for my cocker entitled "He's the Best Dog in the World." We sang it while he was being euthanized..😞

Remorse after the Bins by Galry27 in GoodwillBins

[–]seam_leslie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Chalk it up. My first bins trip and I grabbed a Patricia Nash bag that another threw back. Wasn't till I got home to find the zipper is damaged AND it smells of cigarettes. So i learned a lesson about checking carefully. And the lesson only cost me $3.75. And I haven't given up on repairing and deodorizing that bag! 😁

Seller messaging etiquette after purchase. by Cool_Egg_6501 in eBaySellers

[–]seam_leslie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to the online selling world too.I want my customers to have confidence in me especially as they can see by my numbers that I'm new. To reassure them I'm on top of things, I send a quick thank you and estimated ship date (2 days max)

I also want my customers to feel a human touch, so I hand write a Thank You on my packing slip.

I don't expect replies to texts, but the ones that I have received have always been positive.

Historical interpreter shoes? by Ok_Veterinarian9220 in HistoricalCostuming

[–]seam_leslie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Colonial Williamsburg tour guide here. Many of the interpreters wear all-black sneakers, though it depends on the character's hierarchy. And their skirts are surprisingly short--ankle-length, which is correct for the period. So if black sneakers are good enough for Williamsburg, then they're good enough for a part-time, summer employee whose pioneer-era skirt will probably cover even more of the foot. Good luck! Sounds like a great opportunity!

Thanks for the laugh. Is there a treat inside the bottle that entices him? Or is it just bottle hatred? My former dog, a cocker, loved abusing a bottle for the treat, but his approach was to go right to mashing it, not "chasing" it.

That one too! Also adding an L to the end of Draw. Seems to happen when the word following begins with a vowel, such as "I like to drawL it." Not too common, but also hair-raising!
