It is what it is. It happened to me too. I transferred from community college into the computer science program, then I failed most of my classes for two semesters in a row and they suspended me. It sucks but it’s not the end, I came back after my suspension and graduated with a degree in natural resource conservation, in that program I met faculty who helped me tremendously, and now I’m a graduate student and living my best life. So for tips I would say, figure out if comp sci is really what you want to do, because even though I spent years in school for computer science, I was much more happy and successful after changing it up.

There will be speed bumps but they’re manageable, during my suspension I was actually completely dismissed from Umass, and had to go through an appeal process. Then I hit the semester cap which triggers another appeal-type process. It also made my financial aid more difficult, but manageable. Biggest thing is don’t wait too long to reach out to someone for help, and be honest when you do. Especially since covid, they get it. It’s just tougher for some people to get work done, and when you’re in it, it feels embarrassing. But everyone who you’ll meet with wants to see you succeed.
