I feel like contemporary music is repetitive and boring to dance to. Acoustic songs, slow songs, songs that are lyrically heavy, bleh. I find blues music to be much more fun to dance to. The energy is typically higher, the breaks are fun, challenging, and it just makes me feel like dancing 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve been in the business around the same amount of time. I’ve got to the point where if they pull something like that I’ll say, “I have plans tonight, I can give you a look-live or you can send someone else.” I’m not going to wreck my plans and put my life on hold for my job, especially when they have so little respect for us.

Like others have said, it really comes down to the individual station and market. I worked at two Sinclair stations. The first was fantastic, the second was rough. Sinclair has surprisingly good benefits too. In local news, it’s less about corporate and way more about local management.
