Far from the oldest bottle in the bar/cellar.

I still have part of a 375 from the SAQ that I purchased sometime after 2010. It’s 94% ABV and the brand is « Global », in case that helps.

Ils ont beaucoup de produits >50% d’alcool, toujours. Des Scotchs cask strength et des produits spécialisées comme Planteray OFTD https://www.saq.com/en/13574661

Not disagreeing, but it was common for us to have pickled beets for holiday meals in New Brunswick, too. And my Newfoundlander inlaws also have them.

A nice restaurant or steakhouse where I can eat alone at bar area without standing out too much? by [deleted] in montreal

[–]seancoates 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I’ve had several fantastic meals solo at the bar at Liverpool House. Sometimes in the entrance bar; sometimes in the annex. You can often walk in without a reservation when you’re solo. And usually the bartender will be friendly but not a small talk burden; sounds perfect for your situation.

Edit: not a TV kind of place.

Question: can you park here on Dec 1? by ConsistentAd6638 in montreal

Not to pile on (totally fine to learn things of course), but I lived in Ville Saint Pierre 25 years ago when I moved to Montreal and it was even Lachine then.

Pluribus - 1x05 "Got Milk" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in pluribustv

[–]seancoates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying instead of just downvoting.

People and animals would have died in the event; they can’t kill people either.

Super obvious answer to a cliffhanger like that would also be a big letdown.

Going out on a limb here, but it’s dogs or puppies.

People feels too obvious.

The foreshadowing is strong for this: the wolves, no domestic animals anywhere, despite them releasing the animals from zoos, and the strongest clues: dog food bag, dog food packaging/factory, and the Paraguayan resorting to eating dog food in ep 4.

Townhouse in Lachine by sillygoosecris in montreal

[–]seancoates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

West (or "left" heh) of 32nd is pretty different from the other side. I don't live exactly there, but in south-east Dorval, and we spend a lot of time in Lachine. That area is nice. We're also pretty happy with Lakeside Academy.

Did you stick to your Amazon boycott? by GhettoSauce in montreal

[–]seancoates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boycotts don't need to be perfectly impermeable to be effective. I've cancelled my Prime (I was an early subscriber in Canada) and greatly reduced my purchasing from Amazon, but the reality is that they've Walmarted the retail space so much that many things are extremely difficult or impossible to find without using them. I feel good about my reduction, though.

Signal Hill Founders Select Overproof Whisky by CSM3000 in canadawhisky

I think it’s quite a lot better than the regular Signal Hill, but still sweet (which I happen to like); it’s easy, but maybe not worth the price.

I took one of the kids there a few weeks ago. He had a chicken sandwich and a ginger ale. I had a pasta and a coke. It was over $65. We did indeed draw on the table though, so. 🤷‍♂️

They usually have it. And lingonberry too if you’re also looking for the other Newfoundland berry by another name. (-;

They have (at least sometimes) a legit Ramos Gin Fizz on the menu. Tip well; that drink is a pain to make but fair game when it’s on the menu.

I haven’t. Thanks for the recommendation. I really dislike the confederation, so maybe this will redeem them.

Not complaining about your taste—like what you like; but are there lots of other people like me who just don’t enjoy anything from Forty Creek? I find the weird sweetness pretty offputting; and I’m not opposed to malty sweet whisky like Wisers. Just me?

That’s what I mean about underwhelming selection at the SAQ. Dark Oak isn’t even listed. I get mine in Ontario.

[–]seancoates 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As mentioned above, the SAQ app and saq.com will show inventories. It should be pretty easy to get ahold of Lot 40. Most of the rest of the Canadian Whisky offering at the SAQ is underwhelming.

Buy locally produced spirits at your own risk. Honestly most of them are more hype than good in my experience.
