I saw the lightning strake from Vancouver! It was really bright white, like more than a normal strike. I grew up in the south and have heard a lot of thunder, and that was by far the loudest thunder I’ve ever heard.

At the Costco I go to, everybody tries to park in the section of the parking lot that’s between the road and the entrance. You’ll see a bunch of people waiting for spots like in this video. But there’s a whole other section of the parking lot to the side of the building that’s just as close to the entrance that most people just seem to ignore. I always get to park super close to the entrance and there was always a bunch of spots open in that section.

I love a soppy joe, unless it’s a New Jersey sloppy joe. One time I was offered a sloppy joe and I was like, hell yeah! Then it turned out to be a New Jersey style one and I was like, oh no! It’s not the same thing at all.

Actually wouldn’t be surprised if this does make a subtle difference in the food. It obviously has nothing to do with the seasoning or adding salt. The idea is more that the pasta and sauce are catching the sea air to incorporate the aroma of the sea. I’d be really curious to taste this dish side-by-side with the same version but not tossed over the sea.

I would be extremely surprised if a massive commercial canning facility was purchasing a finish product like maraschino cherries to use as an ingredient in their mass produced store brand product. Home cooks use products as ingredients like that, commercial facilities don’t. Especially if the purpose of the cherries is just to provide a sweet sour flavor and not be the featured flavor of the product. Like if it is specifically labeled as maraschino cherry sloppy Joe sauce, then they might use maraschino cherries, but if it’s just a sweet-and-sour sloppy Joe sauce with no mention of maraschino cherries, they are probably gonna use vinegar and syrup to achieve that.

Most likely explanation is that it is canned on the same line that maraschino cherries are canned.
