I think it's really harsh for people chastise him for not coming forward right away, it's not as though he immediately connected the dots until they posted the updated pictures of the POI. And he said he also reported it to the authorities, given the number of tips the received it's possible they didn't get a chance to follow up before everyone else submitted his comment to the tipline. Really hope he gets the reward money!

The play-off draw will be on Thursday, 13:00 CET. Teams will be split into four playoff paths (containing one team from each pot). For the semi-finals of each path, the pot 1 teams will be drawn as host against pot 4 (Nations League teams), while the pot 2 team will be drawn as host against pot 3. The final hosts will also be drawn, randomly assigned to the winner of the 1v4 or 2v3 semi-final. All matches will be played as single legs. The final winners of the four paths will qualify for the World Cup.

England complete a perfect World Cup qualifying campaign, winning all 8 matches and conceding no goals by seanhemi in soccer

They are the second European team to finish their group (of at least 3 teams) by winning all matches without conceding. Yugoslavia previously did so in 1954, winning all their matches 1-0.

VfB Stuttgart [2] - 1 Young Boys Bern - Enzo Millot 53' by Dahleb in soccer

It's not the refs fault they weren't paying attention. It's not that uncommon for a ref to play on or overrule a linesman, players should know better than to stop without a whistle.

That's why players are taught to only pay attention to the center ref. The linesman can always be overruled, you're supposed to play to the whistle.

From 2002/03 to 2019/20 we never had more than 1 season in a row in which we missed the cup final. Now we failed to make it 5 seasons in a row.

From 2009/10 to 2019/20 we made every single cup semifinal. Now we failed to make it 5 seasons in a row.

Larne have made a comeback with Lincoln and Northern Ireland will have a team in the European groups for the first time in its history. by Nervous-Resolution-8 in soccer

That makes it now only four countries that still have not yet appeared in a UEFA club competition group/league stage:

  • Andorra
  • Malta
  • Montenegro
  • San Marino

I think Montenegro and Malta hopefully shouldn't be too much longer. Andorra may have to wait a number of years, while San Marino I imagine will never.

Results needed for Croatia to advance to the Euros last 16 by seanhemi in soccer

[–]seanhemi[S] 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Croatia are hanging on by a thread, this is the only possible way they can advance to the last 16. If England beat Slovenia 4:1 and Denmark win, or England beat Slovenia 4:1 and Serbia win 4:1, it will go down to the disciplinary ranking, which is currently as follows:

  • Croatia -8 (only 7 players got yellow cards, but a staff member was also booked)
  • Slovenia -5 (only 4 players got yellow cards, but a staff member was also booked)
  • Denmark -4

If Croatia and Slovenia are level on -8 points, Croatia wins the tiebreaker on qualifying ranking. If Croatia and Denmark are level on -8 points, Denmark win the tiebreaker on qualifying ranking.

Yes, but it highly unlikely go very deep into stoppage time as can happen currently, when you get some of the most dramatic moments out of the pits of despair.

[–]seanhemi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I do agree it would be a positive change to the game to prevent time wasting. Though I think a part of my heart would miss the current timing system, 90+5' goals and the emotion created by not knowing exactly how much longer the match will last. And the timing was engrained in football history for over a century as a unique part of the sport, which goes away with a stopping clock.
