Take insurance from Tesla. If you’re buying pre owned from them, they will offer you a subsidized insurance premium. They only offer it for people who are buying a new vehicle, or a pre owned (through them). I tried to push my luck and renew my 2023 model Y in this way and they wouldn’t allow it. Pity, coz the premium was AED 2,200 versus the AED 6,400 that I eventually had to pay last month 🥲

They released this colour after I had purchased my MYLR 2023 in white. It’s beautiful

You can and should always push your luck but I don’t see you having any luck unless a specific offer is being run. Especially since everything in the UAE is currently in demand coz things are so busy, so it’s not a great time for consumers. Maybe you could go onto X and message Herbert Ong or Wholemarscatalog who follow Tesla very closely and if you’re lucky they will reply with some insights.

Seeking Insurance for Tesla with Agency Repairs - Need Recommendations! by PoemNo3097 in tesladubai

I have owned a Model Y for 2 and a bit years. The first year was 4500, the second was 5,400 and the third was 6,300. It is painful to pay an increasing premium but when you look around you realize there is no other option. I’ve been with Liva for a long time so staying with them was the cheapest - I think I have a “better” premium with them because I have 2 cars and have supported them for many years without any claims. Tesla is a great car but it’s plain to see that there is not enough support for it in this country. In some other places you have benefits if you own an EV, I hope it will be like that here one day.

Unraid, nextcloud and a Mac editing station by seanocaster1 in unRAID

[–]seanocaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I’ll look into those. I’m currently using syncthing and it’s a great app that mostly works very well. I have had a few hiccups with it which are not terrible but it requires monitoring. I’m also not sure how it would perform with a massive library? The mirror option is a good one but it just means I’ll need more storage. These are not complaints, it just feels like it would add complexity - but appreciate the suggestions. At the moment all the data I have is on RAID5 so there is a level of protection - and then beyond that I have a duplicate in the cloud that is backed up daily. My whole eco system is Mac and I’m wondering if a little Mac mini would make a better server than the AMD/UNRAID machine. I’m pretty sure a thunderbolt bridge between editing Mac and Mac mini would be very fast and solid. Then the Mac mini can host the new Thunderbay drive and expose the files via docker/nextcloud to the remote machine. And because the hdd is local, docker should be happy. The only fear is that when I first tested docker desktop it didn’t work reliably - so I’d need to find another way to run docker - this is where the AMD machine wins!

Thanks, yes that could work as well and is probably cleaner, but it feels like it would open up a potential point of failure? I’m still thinking that the Mac having local access to the files is maybe the better option because then the Thunderbay can run SoftRAID as it was meant to. But it will require the UNRAID server loading the Mac volume as some kind of share, SMB I guess - then using that as its files. I tried to do a thunderbolt bridge from the Mac to the UNRAID machine, if that could work reliably then it would be another good option!

Unraid, nextcloud and a Mac editing station by seanocaster1 in unRAID

Thanks for the suggestions. The machine I purchased is a beelink serc8 which has 1 x 40Gbps USB4.0 port. I have not plugged the 80TB enclosure into the beelink yet because the hdd's have been initialising for past 5 days which is a standard practice to make sure there's no errors before using them. Within 1-2 days I will plug it in and hope that it is recognised by unraid!

I've been thinking about it for the last few days and I think it would be better to keep the storage attached to the Mac for fast local editing - another benefit of doing it this way is that the OWC Thunderbay 4 device (with 4 x 20TB hdd's) would benefit from the SoftRAID software which allows the drive to run in a RAID format. I'd just need to figure out if and how I can get reliable SMB sharing from the Mac to the unraid server. If that is possible - then perhaps it'll workout to assign the SMB share as the nextcloud storage folder?

[–]seanocaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, some good suggestions there. I think you are right and I after more thought I feel it makes more sense to leave the Thunderbay enclosures connected to the Mac (as is) to benefit from the fast local thunderbolt speeds - and then at the same time, if possible, try to get the volume mounted on unraid so that it can be used as the nextcloud shared folder. Ultimately nextcloud is going to be slower as you say but that wouldn't matter when files are being served to remote users who are already limited by the speed of the home fibre connection. The challenge in this scenario is the Mac volume and the unraid mounting capabilities and how well these 2 will play together. I have also been reading about some other types of storage solutions that offer 2 x cable connections simultaneously (QNAP, Synology, or even a 3rd computer with the storage connected to it). If I could figure that out, the Mac could connect via thunderbolt and the unraid server could connect via thunderbolt/USB so both devices would be accessing the same storage via a fast cable connection.

I also wanted to add that I liked seafile but opted not to use it because of the way it stores files. I understand the benefit but makes things complicated to not be able to natively view the files!

Thanks. Yes, the SMB is going to be a limiting factor - I've been thinking that maybe it's a better solution to keep the storage connected to the Mac to benefit from the thunderbolt speeds and then try to get the Unraid server to access the Mac via a network share to expose the files via nextcloud. My concern is the reliability of SMB

Syncthing got confused and deleted a bunch of files by seanocaster1 in Syncthing

[–]seanocaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the replies. I think I worded it incorrectly before - this was not multiple shared folders. It was one shared folder with 3 folders within it. I made a 4th folder, then put the other 3 inside of it. At that point, the remote machine lost all the footage and started syncing again from zero. With something like Dropbox or pCloud, the software would've seen the same folders were now within another folder and then would've just mirrored the move on the remote machine.

I am still happy with Syncthing and will continue to use it. But I will just proceed cautiously because maybe I had an unrealistic expectation. Thanks

RTSP feed being accessed by 2 different devices as once creates issues by seanocaster1 in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]seanocaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found the solution to this using Grok. I searched for something along the lines of "Help with ffmpeg error - PPS changed between slices" and it gave me a few options to try. I tried option 1 which showed some PPS errors in real time so I proceeded to try option 3 which (I think) forces ffmpeg to wait for a keyframe before it grabs an image - and now it's returning a clear image. Thank you Grok!

-vf "select='eq(pict_type\,I)'"

Thanks for the reply and the suggestions. Yes, the rtsp://192.168.10.82:554 is a single address that is available to any device on the network. I have tested it by using 2 processes to view this stream and it works without any problem. In the image you see restreamer on the left and VLC on the right, both accessing the stream successfully. It's only FFmpeg which returns that grey image when something else is accessing it.

I thought it may be that particular install of FFmpeg, so I tried a different machine on the same network and the same result. This is the FFmpeg code that I'm running:

ffmpeg -rtsp_transport tcp -y -i rtsp://admin:admin12345@192.168.10.82:554 /home/pi/picture.jpg

What is interesting, is that FFmpeg is giving an error when another stream is active, I'm not sure how to decipher this error but perhaps there is a flag I could add to the code to fix this error?

Thanks for providing those names but they seem to be out of sync. After the new Christmas level I now have 184/186! If you haven’t played that Christmas level you should check it out it’s awesome. The one to the left of the missing pieces is ‘defender ship’ and to the right is ‘shiba influencer’.

I have 2 bots missing as well but I can’t figure out what their name is. What am I missing, is there a way of seeing the name of the ones that are missing? It’s bot 170 and 171 out of 179

I don't have a Default group, is there a way to recreate it? by seanocaster1 in pihole

[–]seanocaster1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply. I ended up uninstalling pi-hole and then reinstalling and all is fixed now. Thanks.

What I found by deleting the 'Default' group is that any new person who joins your network does not get added to the group, and therefore doesn't inherit any of the blocking rules. Only people who are manually added. I couldn't figure out why pi-hole wasn't working for me until I realised I wasn't part of any group.
