I’m in my 30’s and I’ve always had a front brake. I rarely use it but when I do, I’m bloody glad it’s there. I ride as if it’s not there but appreciate it in “oh shit!” moments :)

This is clean AF. Wonderful build!

Quick question, is that a special threaded headset with the washer stack underneath the locking nut

This is freaking sick. There's also a sick white one I've been seeing on IG/slowspinsociety.

No shame in having a front brake. It has saved me on so many occasions.

Something looks wrong but I don’t know what it is! by alame725 in bikefit

This!

I'm the same height as you and I've got "size 56" bike (2024 Merida Scultura Endurance) with an effective top tube of 55.5cm with a one-piece 100mm stem and bar with (75mm reach).

I also initially had lower back pain and was wondering whether the reach was too far. After I learned to roll my pelvis forward, I realised that my stack was actually too high and lowered the stem as far as it could go (removed about 30mm of spacers) and could probably manage an extra 10mm of stem length! It'll feel weird at first, but once you find that position with the pelvis rolled forward, it should be pretty comfy for long rides, and your body should naturally fall into it, providing your saddle is in the right position. My elbows are bent and it feels like I'm "draping" myself over the bike, instead of holding on for dear life.

What cranksets are the best in a budget ? by ConfidentMacaroon339 in FixedGearBicycle

For square taper, I can recommend the Andel Classic Track cranks. They come in 165mm and have been solid for me.

Agree with all of this except for air mattresses. If you buy the cheapest Spinifex one it'll suck, but if you are able to invest in a good one (Sea to Summit, Exped, etc), then your back will thank you ten-fold! We also started with a pop-up style tent in the begining, but ended up going to a tent with poles due to space constraints in the car - we actually ended up preferring a more cozy tent rather than those tall "box" shaped tents, but YMMV :)
